  1. Hey all,

This one is probably really daft but I'm struggling to install my rad and oil cooler on my 420R.  Derek @ CC is being supportive but I'm not quite able to get clarity on whether I've done the install correct.  Rather than pester Derek I thought I might post here.

I have an S3 with the R300 style rad and oil cooler in the same unit.  The documentation in both the 2015 and new style manual doesn't cover it the rad style.

Here is what I've finished with, but I'm sure the bobbin setup is wrong.  Surely I shouldn't have the exposed thread.

My bobbin has a fixed male threaded rod on one side, and a female thread on the other used screw onto the rad.  I don't feel you can remove the male thread and if you could I'm sure the bolt on the rad which is used to screw into/through the bobbin would be too short.

    Thanks for the support

  2. Thanks for the detail and support.

I measured the length of my metal spigot and it too is 85mm, although I did struggle to get an accurate measure of the cable after that.  So opted to move on with the build.   I'm happy I can go back to it another day.  Although it is good to hear that you didn't fit the rivet and that your cabling is similar.  May be its fine.

  3. Hi All,

    Another build query.

I've installed my heater into my car (S3 420).  The install of the heater has gone well apart from the fact the cable appears to be excessively long.  The length causes the cable to bulge badly against the pedal box.  I've seen pics of other cars and the curve of the heater cable in those cars suggest the their cables are no where near as long.

I've checked Caterham's parts website and there seems to be numerous cables types, so I'm wondering if I've got the wrong cable.  Does anyone know the difference in the various cables, may be the lengths,

    Thanks

  4. Hi All,

Another build question I'm afraid :-(

Do i need to put a grommet in the front light pod assembly arm, just underneath where the cable routes. Manual implies so, but doesn't state with what and from where? Support appreciated.

  5. Hi All,

I've finally got my kit 420R, and started the process of building, all is going well, however I'm unsure what to do with the front lower wishbone washer setup so thought I'd turn to the forum for support, hope you don't mind especially at this early stage.

I received the new style manual only, and it shows the wishbone and washers quite clearly, but makes no reference of differences between narrow or wide track car.  The older assembly guide from 2015 clearly states.

On wide track models there should be no washers between the front mount and the chassis and 4 washers between the chassis tube and the rear mount of the lower wishbone.

Given my 420R S3 is wide track I'm not sure what to do.  I understand the difference impacts the caster on the car, but I just want the most appropriate configuration intend by Caterham, this isn't a race car.*tongue*

Am I supposed to ignore the 2015 guide, just go with the new manual, given that's all that was supplied?

Help and advice would be really appreciated.  Thanks.
