  1. 2003 1.8 K-Series 160HP 12000 miles Full Caterham service history, major service done in April with sump foam change MoT till April 2010 Tax till August 2010 Blue (exact colour I need to confirm, it's a kind of mid blue, non metallic) 6 speed gearbox 13" Superlight alloys with CR500s Black pack Apollo tank Shift lights Tillett seats Adjustable platforms Carbon nosecone, front and rear wings, dashboard etc JPE gauges SBFS half hood also in blue Lowered floor on driver's side 12V power socket in cockpit Spare clutch and throttle cables, plus cans of tyreweld (never used!) Due to a collapsed house purchase, I am having to find rental accomodation. Unfortunately there is a reasonable chance of me not finding a place with a garage for the Caterham, hence the very sad reason for a sale. Guide price for the sale is £18000 If you are interested, then do get in touch via Blatmail. The car is in excellent condition, drives fantastically and is very well cared for. I am currently on holiday but will try to upload some pictures when I get back at the weekend.
  2. Some very useful information about ride heights. I will check my sump clearance with a beer can at the next opportunity. Eugene's article also interesting. However, it is quoted that stronger springs stop or minimise weight transfer - this is not the case. With all things being equal, lateral weight transfer is a function of lateral acceleration and CG height. Stiffer springs will decrease the amount of roll for a given lateral acceleration but the lateral weight transfer remains the same....

    Spanner Sizes

Hi Myles You are right - I would not want to cart a load of stuff around with me. But if it's the case that 3 or 4 spanners will cover most jobs, then I would take them with me. I have breakdown cover and have no hesitation in using it, but I'd rather fix things myself if possible and it's a shame if a simple repair cannot be done roadside due to not having one tool. I also object to taking a lot of stuff with me because it is just adding weight.... I already have most of what you mentioned. The Teng mini socket is an excellent suggestion, thanks for that. Regards, Ben

    Spanner Sizes

After yesterday's blat, I've decided to put together a proper toolkit to take with me in future (based on a fantastic recent post from Anthony which explained what he normally takes for various trips) Does anyone have a list of all the common sizes of nuts/bolts which are used on a Caterham? I know this varies depending on year of manufacture etc. I am looking to assemble a toolkit for my 2003 R300, which means a mixture of imperial and metric sizes, I believe. Thanks, Ben
  5. Hi Roy You've read my thread on a near identical topic! I had my R300 tested at Bedford Autodrome. The chap there was very helpful. The main problem was getting into the place - the speed bumps are not Caterham friendly. When I was there, there was an R400 running with a standard cat and exhaust and he had passed the 100dB static test but had been told to lift off when going past the noise meter on track, as it was reading high values. So I would suggest your R500 will need a bit of help to run somewhere like that...
  6. Thanks for all the advice. My exhaust probably does need repacking, but I would rather get a new system which will take me comfortably under the noise limit (most circuits use 100 dB now). I'll be in touch with a couple of people regarding their secondhand systems. Thanks for the EBD tip, Jonathan - I know Tingewick, it's just down the road from me....
  7. I had my R300 K series noise tested a while back and it came in at 105dB. Clearly too noisy for a lot of track days, so I am wondering what to do about it. I am running the standard exhaust with cat bypass pipe. I could to fit a cat, which should reduce the noise (and unfortunately, performance) - but by how much? Another solution is a Raceco exhaust but they are pricey. Any thoughts? Ben
  8. Yesterday afternoon, taking a cheesecake to a BBQ in the cotswolds.... Firstly. a BRG seven whilst taking a shortcut around Buckingham (I think near Twyford?). Both waved. Then an orange R300 near Banbury itself (ring road I think) Me in a blue R300 Ben
  9. Thanks Myles, Looks like I have two options. I don't mind spending money if it is a good long term buy. I think I saw a couple of cars with digital temp gauges on the dash at Stoneleigh - I assume these are the SPA gauges. TBH, any system which allows me to look after the car better, and use it properly, is worth having. Ben
  10. Thanks... in fact, that's exactly what I was expecting - it seems to be the commonest way to do it
  11. Hi all I would quite like to fit an oil temp gauge of some type to my K-series R300 (with Apollo tank). Any suggestions on the quickest and simplest solution? One possiblity is to adapt the water temp gauge i.e. as I believe academy cars run. Any advice? Ben
  12. Walking along Avenue Princess Grace at 11.30pm on Thursday evening, Monaco registered metallic grey Caterham with HPC wheels.... finally someone with some taste here
  13. Thanks fo all your advice RJ, you make a fair point... I am quite happy to support CC but at the same time, I am trying to keep within budget - it just frees up more money for other stuff for the car....
  14. Hi folks, Seeing a thread on here about parts to take with you when on a blat, I've decided it's worth getting spare throttle and clutch cables for my K-series R300. Cost on CC website is £24 for the clutch and £33 for the throttle cable. Quite happy to pay that or is there a cheaper option elsewhere? Ben
