  1. I booked her in for an alignment and corner balancing next week and I will get back to this thread on how much I screwed up and how much I I have yet to learn.

Hopefully helping inexperienced others who wish to attempt this procedure avoiding my pitfalls

  2. OK thanks to all for the education, at this point I am going to invest in a pro watch and learn then come home and place the car back on the scales to see where I went wrong.

Anyone in the market for a set of very lightly used scales (-:

  3. I posted this on FB and have had some responses but maybe here someone with the time an patience to explain the art of corner balancing the car.

Attached are the numbers, have now, I was going for that 50% cross which I seem to have come close to for a first attempt (yes I am in the car)

My concern is the numbers themselves the front left and right have a huge difference as do the rear, should I be trying to get these closer? (And keep that 50% cross)

Then we have the Left and Rear what does this relate to?

    I have a 56% vs 52% +/- variance here, but a 50.8% cross (which is a better number than when I started)

If anyone has a corner balancing print out from a shop It would help me out to see roughly what I should be aiming for, or someone who knows the secret of setting up the car

I was told why not just take it to a pro? But the point is to educate myself about how to set up the car (and justifying the 600 bucks I spent on the scales)

    Thanks for any help

  4. Thanks Tazio

I do not understand the print out from the alignment done in 2010, back then the car was a track car so I would think the numbers are based on the car being as track car it looks like he set the toe in slightly as you suggested @ -0.08 and -0.06

Other than that is all looks like dark magic to me

That said I will find a decent alignment place and talk to them.

  5.  I have an LSD fitted as spinning both wheel while jacked up both move in the same direction.

My question is if I spin the drivers side it will spin the opposite wheel in union If I spin the passenger side it will not always engage the drivers side is this normal?

  6. Just got a deal on a set of Longcare SW500 scales as this is a totally new area for me to learn so I hope to get a bit of help here.

The Car is a 2001 Superlite and the only info I have on previous adjustments was from 2010.

alignment and Corner balancing .pdf  The car is a daily driver with monthly visits to the track

I just installed set of Nitron R1s all round so I need it aligned and balanced.

The attached pages are from a 2010 alignment/Corner Balance done by the previous owner,as I have no idea of what the optimal values should be can someone clue me in?

Are these #s what I should be aiming for?

The second sheet is the Corner Balancing should I aim for the same weight % (51.2)

Ride hight; Where do I measure this from from the front  and rear diffs?

What is the standard hight and is it measured with a driver in or out of the car, full tank of gas?

I use around 18lbs (cold) tire pressure

Any guidance/questions would be greatly appreciated.

  7. I am a little confused over the difference between side lights and parking lights side lights I always thought "side lights" was just a name for the small auxiliary lights on a car?

A quick Google search i found this for the UK

"According to the Highway Code (section 249) all vehicles are required to display parking lights when parked on a road or a lay-by with a speed limit greater than 30mph"

    In the US

"Neither state law nor federal law requires vehicles to have parking lights"

I was surprised that the front indicator pods did not second as parking/side lights I do have a live feed so I could add a duel filament bulb and rewire.
