  1. Sorry for the delay first time I've logged on. Williams Automobiles they were v efficient

Caterham were expecting a delivery so perhaps they have them now.

  2. Thanks to the advice I have decided not to crash the Caterham I built , that will teach me to click too early

ZZS on the way . Thank you Geoff and DJ

  3. I cleverly managed to order the wrong tyres for my 360 R. I meant to order Avon ZZS to replace the front tyres but managed to order ZZRs !

That would mean I have ZZRs on the front and ZZS on the rear. I am planning some Trackdays's and I would be interested in those with experience if this is a combination that may work ?

  4. I've just had engraved a brass nameplate. The plan is to stick it to my carbon fiber dashboard.

Before I do so I thought I'd ask if anyone has had an experience of the glue damaging the surface of the carbon fiber ?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Thank you Jonathan and Revilla !

I can see more investigation is required . The car is still in warranty so I ll check with Caterham next  in case the gauges / wiring are covered. It's a self build but of course the gauges are pre fitted / wired by Caterham

If it's not covered I'll make a start myself  as suggested

  6. My Caterham temperature gauge is rather fickle in the sense it's is occasionally shows random hot and cold when running. Today both the temperature and fuel gauge continued to show a reading when the ignition was off. When turning the ignition on both needles swept the gauge as normal.
    it's a 2018 360r

Just wondered if this was a a common issue or something I should investigate further

  7. Hi

I built a 360 R last year and have just seen this so sorry for the delay

    I agree it’s not clear.

I ended up contacting Derek and using his info that with the blogs. Lots of complications but that combination worked in the end.

  8. A quick update; armed with the helpful advice / experiences here I had another go and it looks tight now.

Interesting experience for me and just proves that even a simple job that I’ve done loads of times can be puzzling and sharing helps

    Cheers all

  9. Hi all

Thanks very much for all input

It’s the PH2874 filter.  Same manufacturer as original fitment

    First time change so replacement

It goes on easily ( which suggests not cross threaded ) and tighten’s normally.

When it is hand tight I can see the seal isn’t at the top

Like many of us I’ve changed oil before so am puzzled.

  10. Hi just fitted my oil filter for my wet sump 360 r

I have  hand tightened it as usual with the seal lubricated.

However although it it as tight as it can be by hand  it is not tight to the top Am I missing something?

Eg should I use a tool to tighten it ?

  11. Thanks All

    The oil is now draining.

Particularly appreciate the guidance on here re size location and torque ! Could have been interesting without it.

I've just finished changing the oil on my 1970 Lotus Elan , having a workshop manual for that car makes such a difference to all the jobs I do on that car.

My next piece of research will be relating to checking the Mazda gearbox oil : I already note there are a number of threads to read before I can start to get my head around how to do it.

  12. Hi

Just changing the oil on my Duratec wet sump 360R . Having searched it looks like the sump nut is 32 mm on on the passenger side.

What am not clear about is do I need a replacement washer when I replace the nut ? It seems that some people have different types of washer : not sure re mine as I have'nt started yet

    Thanks in advance

  13. Cheers mossy for responding so quickly

I did look at the previous posts but could not really get an answer in the sense that my readings are consistent just not clear to me !

I suspect the dark mark is the correct one with the lighter mark in the reverse side just residue

    Keen to double check though

  14. Hi I have a Duratec 360 R wet sump and am having problems being satisfied with the oil level and it would be great to get some views from others.

I finished the build in June and its been on the road since September   I’ve done about 2600 miles in that time  and the oil originally was filled to the build manual amount

Basically following the owners manual my level is just over the minimum mark as far as I can tell ( eg there is a clear dark oil level mark on the “indicator “ side to that level )  however on the other round side there is a very light covering of oil just above the max mark.

I’ve put about a litre in since September ( as you know the manual suggests filling up to the full mark, measuring whilst how and waiting 30 seconds )

Id be v grateful for any views from others if there is anything else I should do re this ?

Unlike the other cars that I have checked in the past I’ve been thrown by the fact that the level seems to be consistent at just above the minimum level !

    thanks in advance
