  1. This may be the wrong forum but I have booked Brands Hatch GP (opentrack) on Monday 18 Sept and Thruxton (Javelin) on 19th, but I live in Jersey and have just been advised that my ferry is cancelled with no alternative until the middle of next week. So I can't get there....... I can't get a refund but am advised the booking name can be changed as long as I do it before Sunday. I paid £763 for both with an additional driver at both and tuition at Thruxton only. Anybody interested in taking over the booking at a discount? Do I here £500?
  2. Its with Dave Andrews in Milton Keynes (it came over with the engine) and is going to Road & Race in Sevenoaks. I'm using a carrier next door to R & R so will go direct rather than via a hub somewhere. Point taken re protection and that's why I was interested in the dimensions in case I can find a box of the right size, rather than relying on tying it down to a pallet. I will ring R&R tomorrow as its just occurred to me that they will probably know all about this subject!
  3. I will need to transport my gearbox and am trying to size a suitable crate or pallet. Does anyone know the dimensions of this box? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the SPC votes. Yes Dave is still going strong but has never really had the space for engines that are still in situ. The queue for the acknowledged k series expert is quite a long one as always.
  5. Thanks very much, I have contacted SPC.
  6. I'm taking the opportunity to have my engine and gearbox refreshed. Dave Andrews is taking care of the former but does anyone know anywhere in the Milton Keynes area that is familiar with our 6-speed box? The plan is to have it picked up from Dave's and taken somewhere not too distant. Any thoughts? Ian
  7. I second that. Just got back to Jersey this evening with Kermit having completed 1400 miles taking in the Fish & Chip run, Silverstone trackday, some holiday in Yorks and Cadwell as a finale. I have never attended a club trackday before and it is a few years since I have been to Cadwell Park, but it reminded me what a great 7's circuit it is. In my opinion, much more enjoyable than Silverstone at a fraction of the price. Thanks again Simon
  8. Good news - thanks very much.
  9. Hi Jonathan Does this help? Ian
  10. Although I have done other trackdays, I am about to do my first club event at Cadwell Park on 23rd. I notice the requirement for a 'trackday rollover bar' and wonder if mine is such a thing. I had read the Low Flying articles on the subject but cannot identify my rollover bar from those discussed. The car is a 2004 S3 R300 and has a single diagonal brace. Does anyone know if this will pass muster or have I got some very hasty arrangements to make to source a double brace structure? Any input gratefully received. Ian
  11. Thanks very much guys that looks good - don't do Facebook but will ask the wife how to join up! I won't be at Cadwell gulf1, but might be in touch in due course. Ian
  12. I'm looking for a spare set of 13in wheels. De Dion axle and fitting 185 front tyres and 215 rears. Anybody looking to offload any? Ian
  13. Thanks Piers - useful to confirm that 195/45/15's were the original kit and that it was tight to start with (though it is the outer edge of the wing itself that is my problem, rather than the stay). In my case I already have 45 profile CR500's, so I have no options beyond modifying the stay to give a bit more breathing space. I'm beginning to think the issue is the wheel offset because the car has a few Freestyle bits and I think has had some set-up work done in the past which may mean the original wheels no longer work (certainly the previous owner told me he had never put the 15's on with the car only being used on track). I think I will check the offset of the 13's, find another matching set for some harder compound tyres and sell the 15's to someone with a normal car. It certainly helps to kick these things around when deciding the next move. Cheers
  14. Thanks Jonathan for the the previous reference links - you're searching is better than mine! It looks as if at some stage my car gained the shorter stays (there is not huge clearance even with 13in fitted). if I was going to pack them out I would do bolts and adhesive as at present. It seems my options are to get some longer wing stays or swap the 15's for another set of 13's with harder compound tyres for road use. Thanks
  15. I have a 2004 R300 which since I bought it has worn Avon ZZR !95/55's on the front on 13in wheels. Having got through the trackday/hillclimb part of the year I want to swap to the 15in wheels which came with it too, for a bit of touring presuming the larger wheels were the original factory fitment. The 15in wheels have 185/45 CR500's but the front wings are so low that they foul the outer edge of the tyres when the 15in wheels are introduced. I have swapped wheel sizes on other Caterhams previously and never had an issue - are there different/modified front wing stays out there? Solutions that occur to me are removing the wings (looks like a lot of rubberised adhesive under there) and packing them up to raise the height or heating/bending the wing stay up to give about another inch clearance on the outside. Any thoughts?
  16. Thanks for the input - sounds like some Avons then. Cheers Ian
  17. I have been away from hillclimbing for a couple of years, but we are planning on doing a local event next month (Bouley Bay, Jersey). The car will be running in road legal spec on 13in wheels. Are Kumho's still a favourite List 1B tyre? For these purposes I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for dry conditions so don't need a mixed weather all rounder and thinking about somethiing quite soft.. Any thoughts from the fraternity? Ian
  18. Just trying to civilise an aeroscreen equipped car for some occasional touring... Anybody gone the other way and got a wiper pack lying around? Ian
  19. I have a bare black pack windscreen with no fixings (either stantions or door hinges) and wondering if anybody has any kicking around out there in 7 land. Ian
  20. Sorry for the delay - i've been away. I have checked and as indicated above, neither the SV seats or side screens will fit my S3 chassis. Worth a try. Anyone else out there - or have I got to fork out for some new ones? Ian
  21. Hi Fatty, It sounds as if it is all SV stuff you have? I am looking for seats/doors to fit the standard S3 chassis and I think I am right in saying the seats and doors are slightly larger to suit the commodious interior of the SV. Certainly the seats for S3 and SV have a different part number on the CC website. Perhaps you could confirm that they are SV. Thanks Arno for the 'heads up'. Ian
  22. Looking for S-type seats or at least a passenger one (SWMBO Tilletts related issue), pair of half doors and full doors. Ian
  23. Looking for ideally 2, but just a passenger seat would do at a pinch. Wife now expecting more comfort than a composite can offer. Anybody moved on to lighter things and still has some hanging around?
