  1. Hi Bruce, I made one out of sturdy wire (think metal coathanger, but a bit thicker), did the dry-sump leveling process described and then dipped the tank and scored a mark. I also then let the car sit and cool overnight on level ground and re-dipped it, which gave me a cold/settled level. Hope you're enjoying the car. Danny
  2. Just an update that this is now sold. Good luck to the new owner, who's got a cracking car at a cracking price.
  3. I notice that the lack of paragraphing and formatting is limited to the opening or "new" post that opens a topic. Once replying, all the formatting and image adding becomes available. I suspect the link above will change, so the image is below: While we're at it on the formatting opening posts issues, the lack of image addition on the new topic first post is also missing, and still a shambles when you do come to add images. I cannot for the life of me understand why a "new" forum cannot do what other forums (fora?) have been doing for over a decade. Finally, I notice the hyperlink I posted in my first post also isn't a hyperlink. Of course, there's no formatting for that either, but I would also expect a hyperlink to be automatically activated in a forum post, not require special formatting. Again, a feature that has been standard for a very long time elsewhere. Apologies for the negativity, but these are the basics. I don't care about a flag if I can't use a forum in the most basic way. I feel like my membership money is literally being wasted on this.
  4. Edit to add 1) Artificial text breaks as (XXX) - I have been trying on behalf of another user who wants to post a for sale ad, to introduce a paragraph into text. I cannot for the life of me do it. The writing pane you input content in shows the layout, then the forum post rejigs it into one block of text. See here for an example of the issue: https://www.lotus7.club/forum/sale/mini-cooper-s-jcw-r53-sale-fantastic-condition-and-spec XXX In addition, there seems to be no function for any sort of formatting. XXX This needs addressing fairly urgently I would suggest, and frankly, is an unforgivable "bug" on a roll out. This is essential functionality that's missing. The UX and testers who signed this off need a word. If it was outsourced, you need money back.

  6. Just to avoid any more confusion, I forgot, and edited the post to add the price. Eagle eyes much appreciated SM25T.
  7. For sale, my Audi A6 Avant 2.7 V6 TDI. Six speed manual. Serviced at 92,000 miles (September 2017), next service due in 16,500 miles/December 2019, MOT to July ’18, Full Service History, HPI Clear. £4,200 I purchased the car at 64,000 miles in June 2014, in preparation for our first child and it has been an excellent family vehicle since. I have maintained the car with Neil Garner Performance Engineering and it has given me three and a half years of trouble free motoring, only requiring servicing, tyres and the odd bulb. There are two keys and the original document wallet, including the User Manual, Service Schedule and MMI User Guide, plus a file with V5C, receipts, MOTs and service reports. It is a ten year old car and is not perfect, so I have included a bad bits section below. This is so a potential buyer doesn’t have any nasty surprises if they are travelling to see the car. The car has been priced with these issues in mind. The Audi A6 has many features as standard which are options on an equivalent A4. This car also has the optional luxury pack added. It is a very comfortable vehicle to drive, has a phenomenal amount of space front and rear and will return 50mpg+. I HPI checked the car prior to purchase, which was clear. Following purchase, I had the leather seats professionally cleaned and nano-sealed in preparation for any baby-related disasters, which thankfully never occurred. I also had the exterior detailed and the paint machine-polished to remove some minor swirls. The paint remains in good condition, aside from the scuffs detailed the “bad bits” section below. The car is near Stroud, Gloucestershire. Viewing and test drives are welcome with a license and documented proof of insurance to drive other cars. I’m happy to send extra, or specific pictures by email if required. Specs/features: Alloy wheels (17”) Cruise control Dual-zone climate control Full leather Interior (Nano-seal leather protection applied at 65,000 miles) Heated seats and heated folding mirrors Auto headlights and rain sensing wipers MMI system with 10 speakers, radio, CD, aux-in Multi-function leather steering wheel Dash driver information system (DIS) Rear parking sensors Tinted windows Rear window blinds Tilt/side sunroof Isofix front and rear Rear load rail system, OEM boot floor protector, luggage compartment cover and partition net Full size alloy spare Bad bits Tyres (Pirelli P Zero Rosso all round) have 3-4mm tread Two noticeable scrapes on the bodywork and one tucked away Driver’s door opens with key only Alloy wheels have cosmetic scrapes Driver’s seat leather has bolster scuffs Driver’s seat back adjuster is loose, but works The armrest lid handle is loose, but works The warning triangle pocket catch on the boot lid is broken, but cunningly repaired The rear parking sensors occasionally false-detect All in all, it's been a great car. The reason for sale is the purchase of a campervan which will double as my day to day vehicle. There's no need for two big cars. It's a cliche, but "genuine reason for sale"!
  8. Just a wee bump for anyone who saw the car at the PT open day this weekend - good weather for Caterhams.
  9. I've decided it's time to see my Caterham and move to something slightly more family friendly. It's available via Ian Payne at PT Sportscars. http://www.ptsportscars.com/cars-fo…/caterham-supersportred… It's a well known car in L7C circles, most recently gracing the pages of Low Flying in the May 2017 issue - "Following the tyre tracks of the greats." The car is ex-FishyDave/Dave Smitheram and before that the slightly less than promising, but still lovingly remembered BOSS or BatteredOldSuperSport! There have been improvements... The spec is huge, notably the DVA engine with dry sump, new clutch, service, full re-bush and Meteor-spec Nitron NTR-1s with less than a 1000 miles on them and plenty more besides. Have a look at the link or drop Ian a call. I have a garage full of spares too (from a spare nose, a range of arbs, to carbon indicator pods, side impact bar, spare headlamps, gaskets and bobbins), so if the car went close to asking to an L7C member, I'd add them in on the side.
  10. Another *cough* forum. Yes. The engine actually uses very little oil. Most of the catch tank is thin condensation, but the oil pressure isn't low or lowering slowly over time, nor is the exhaust smokey. Granted I don't have a dipstick, but all seems well. I think I'll make a dipstick up for the drysump and check before each outing to see if there are losses, because they'll start small I guess, but grow and I'd rather catch an issue early. It seemed odd that the inlets were variably affected, but I guess that would point to wear on individual cylinders and associated gubbins as opposed to ingress from the throttle-body end. All input much appeciated so far.
  11. I should add then that yes, I mainly track it, and also that the breathers from the top cover go to the dry sump bellhousing tank and a catch tank, so the route for the residue isn't immediately obvious. I'd not noticed it before, but that of course doesn't mean it wasn't there. The variation across the inlets had me wondering. It's a single 56mm throttle body as opposed to individual TBs, not that this should make a difference. There is a small hose from the fuel rail to the inlet manifold just behind the throttle body, so this is a potential source of "wet" substance I suppose. I appreciate the view. I have to get petrol in a moment, so I shall drive it with ears wide open and a pounding heart I imagine!
