  1. Hiya, I had a similar problem on my 2017 420 and it was the non return valve located behind the fuel pipe cover in boot. Removed it and joined pipes together for mot and replaced with ebay item after.
  2. Hi R400svn, what was the part number for the silencer you fitted ? I have the rear exit exhaust and RBTB on a 420r. Just wanted to check the length is the same with the rear exit collector pipe. Thanks Alan.
  3. Hi, I'm in upminster but not seen that one. Mine is grey LJ67***
  4. Hi, I had the Racetech single seater convex mirrors fitted to my old car with the pillar mount in your 3rd link. Very easy to fit to the screw hole you indicated and gave a much better rear view than the standard ones. Only problem is not being able to open doors fully, you do get used to it but passengers tend to keep moving the mirror when they get in or out. I you would like to sell the Eccles mounts that you currently have I would be interested. Cheers Alan
  5. That's the one I fitted to my slow cranking crossflow. Vast improvement and lighter too.
  6. What a great resource, just fitted http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271765788262 and works a treat. Thanks Alan
  7. Just remembered the only way i found it was to swap carb tops and fault moved to no 3 with no 1 ok :-)
  8. I had a similar problem on a crossflow where no 1 cylinder was not firing at idle, turned out to be a leaking needle valve on the 40's flooding it. Not sure why it didn't seem to affect no 2 but changed and all fine. Regards Alan
  9. Hiya, I have a 92 crossflow and if you are not an expert on twin 40's best to start here http://www.s262612653.websitehome.co.uk/DVAndrews/webers.htm Better still if you can find a rolling road near you that still does carbs you will get the best results there. Should pick up from idle quite smoothly once set up and balanced correctly. Have you checked jets, emulsion tubes and choke size ?
  10. Many thanks Gordon but she's running fine again for the time being. I may have to consider a change to Emerald or Omex in the future.
  11. She lives !! Replaced crank sensor and still no spark :-( Eventually traced to a red wire that comes through peddle box and has a bullit connector into the loom. Fell apart in my hands when i pulled it. Think it was the live to the ECU. Oh well at least i have a spare coil and crank sensor now lol. Thanks again for the advice.
  12. Thanks for the advice and offer of help but I thought the Weber Alpha system was locked ? and you needed a special dongle to get into it. Be great if I could see what was going on with a laptop. I've replaced the coil with no luck and I'm going to try the crank position sensor next as that seems most likely culprit. Wiring all seems fine and I have about 700 ohms across the CPS which is a two wire magnetic one, but not sure if it's putting out the correct voltage. I'll report back when it arrives. Thanks Alan

+ 1 for NS-2R in 185/60/13, much better than the old mix of A539's and very old A021's that were fitted. Don't know if they do them in 15's
  14. Starting to think my car doesn't like the Dartford tunnel. After cutting out in the tunnel a few weeks ago but restarting ok once turned off and on again (you can tell i work in IT) yesterday in a huge queue to get to the tunnel she died and would not restart. Eventually made it home on the back of a truck. This time it seems I have no spark when cranking. Car has a wasted spark coil pack and I have ordered one that looks the same as suspect the heat may have finally killed it. Tried for a spark on no 1 and number 2 as they use different windings with a spare plug resting on cylinder head but nothing. Leads were new last year. There is a crank position sensor, a throttle position sensor and air temperature sensor but I have no idea how to test them or which one if any would cause this. Car had cut out on a couple of previous occasions but always restarted and ran fine afterwards so sounds like something breaking down to me that has finally gone. Anyone with experience of this ignition system have any advice please. Many thanks Alan
  15. Thanks for all the tips and I think problem is resolved. Checked all the earths I could find and I think it was the one on the front offside chassis upright, taken this one apart and cleaned and just been for a run with lights on and all seems fine :-) Thanks again Alan
  16. Many thanks for the quick replies, Voltages are 12.8 all turned off, 10.5 cranking and 13.3 at 3000 rpm. Lights brighten and dim with engine revs when checking in garage so appears to be charging just not sure if that's enough of a charge ? When problem occurs not sure of lights behavior as was daylight the first time and panicking in tunnel the next time. although ignition warning light comes on and goes out correctly once restarted. Will continue checking connections and I do have three separate connections down there that have plastic insulators on but feel very brittle due to heat from exhaust. I will try to remove and clean them up and look into replacing with the plug suggested. I have recently changed headlight bulbs to uprated ones but that was after the problem first happened and no other work done to car other than oil and filter change. I do not have a wiring diagram for the car so if there is one available it would be much appreciated. Thanks Alan
  17. Hi, just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction please. Problem started on way back from Dunsfold in pouring rain with lights and wipers on, about 3 times car cut out after suddenly losing all power but as soon as switched off and back on ran fine. Been fine since so I put it down to the rain. Yesterday on the way back from Brands going through tunnel with lights on car lost all power so quickly turned off and restarted fine. (bit scary in Dartford tunnel) Car is a 92 crossflow with weber alpha ECU I am thinking this probably points to an alternator issue as only seems to occur with an electrical drain like lights or wipers, any thoughts or advice would be welcome. Thanks Alan
  18. Hi Duncan, Are the 185/60x13 brand new ones the old stock road legal ones ? Cheers Alan
  19. Hi, Just thought I would share in case any one else is having trouble finding non standard HT leads as they only seem to be available in standard sizes from most places. I needed a set for my crossflow that has a coil pack fitted to the bulkhead and found Formula Power can make to length 10mm leads. A quick phone call and leads arrived two days later and appear excellent quality and fit a treat. Also a lot cheaper than Magnecore at £45 inc postage.http://www.formulapower.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 Alan
