  1. Mortal embarrassment. Ahhhh, never mind about the dash lights. I just went into the garage, shut all the overhead lights off, turned on the Caterham's lights and there it was, extremely dim instrument lighting, barely visible, but they all work. I saw the thread on instrument LED's. I may go that route. Sorry about that. I'll look for that trip meter button and I'll PM you with my email address. Thanks, Jonathan. Regards, Steve Ross
  2. My '84 Sprint arrived yesterday and I'm delighted. The previous owner under-represented the car which is a refreshing change from the usual, "let's put lipstick on the pig and see what she'll bring", mentality. Poking around the car I have some questions; First, is there a switch to turn on the instrument lights or am I looking at an electrical problem? All the exterior lights function perfectly as do the illuminated rocker switches. Second, how does one reset the trip odometer? My car has the black-faced Smiths instruments. Last, is an owners and shop manual available for the early Crossflow live-axle cars? As always, thanks in advance. Regards, Steve Ross
  3. Hi Stephen, Thanks for the offer to check the filter on your car but I think that I have the correct part number, thanks to Areoscreens and other members who provided filter numbers . In the States, Wix filters are highly regarded and the one I need is a so-called Gold 1340. Regards, Steve Ross
  4. Thanks, Aeroscreens. THAT number hit the jackpot. It fits an early Peugeot which was imported into the US back in the day. NAPA stocks the equivalent of the Fram PH2874 which is a Wix 1340, a filter that is readily available here. I'm assuming my car has the sandwich plate as it's equipped with the factory Mocal oil cooler. Thanks again. Regards, Steve Ross
  5. Many thanks to all who responded. Frankly, I thought the filter would be a more popular number in the States than it is, given that the Kent engine was in early '80's Fiestas, etc. I work for an auto parts company called NAPA which is the largest parts chain in the US and our stores don't carry the equivalent to the C103 Champion or the Fram PH2964. I'll have to contact the Wix filter company directly. Those filters must be made for cars not imported into the US. I'll buy a case of them and I'll be set for life! Thanks again and I'm sure I'll be bothering you folks with other inane questions once I get the car (due to arrive tomorrow!!!!) Regards, Steve Ross
  6. I'm a new member and the new owner of an '84 Caterham Sprint (it's arriving on Thursday). I'm located in the States so I'm guessing parts procurement may be a but more difficult than it is in the UK. What is the correct oil filter form the 1600 Crossflow engine? I've been able to come up with just about every spec. and part number except for the oil filter number. Any help appreciated. Regards, Steve Ross
