  1. My 7 is going to have to spend some time outside so needs a good outdoor cover. I used to have a Stormforce cover, really good but did not last long. Just tried a cover from Classic Additions but that is not a good fit on the 7.  Anybody got a good recommendation ?

  2. Found the date info.

In 2013 the MOT test guidance was that for emission purposes a Q plate car should be considered as used before 1st August 1975.  For all other testing purposes they are considered to be first used before 1st January 1971.  Therefore did not need emission tests and could have black and silver number plates.  But has this changed?

  3. Does anybody know of a good link to the new MOT testing with regard to Q Plate cars? Particular query is a 1983 Q plate car with black and silver number plates.  I thought I had seen somewhere a note that Q plates were issued by the DVLA for vehicles with some unknown history and that certain dates in the 70s were deemed as being the age of those cars?

  4. This was made a long time ago. The car is wintering in Staffs so not available to measure the plate thickness as I am in Bucks!

But from memory it was 4mm.  Difficult to bend and 3mm would probably have been just as effective.  The black material on the U bolts and front topside of the plate is rubber sheet, about 1cm thick. Just happened to have this in the garage.

  5. Having reread the instruction it says must have a tow hook with a high vis streamer attached to it. So not for towing but for finding the hook.  My car is some distance away at the moment , does the front chassis have a tow hook?

  6. Hi. Need to put in two M4 rivnuts, but have no tool. I can manage with a bolt, nut and washers. But anybody near Amersham have one I could borrow? Could borrow for five minutes and set them outside your place..

  7. Thanks Stephen.

Just sorted the problem. Teach me to go to spec savers....  The wheel nuts I found in the garage are M12 1.25 from my sons Nissan. They had 1.25 and 1.5 on the box but also a coloured tell tail to show which was in the box.  So I have been trying to fit a 1.25 instead of a 1.5.

Thanks for the offer Stephen but I will go for four locking nuts, leaving me with three spares!

  8. Lost a wheel nut. Well not actually lost the nut but the tapered cone that was part of it.

Checked the Caterham spares site and it should be an M12. Found some M12 wheel nuts in the garage, but its the wrong thread. Locks up after a couple of turns!

Car is 1997 with De-Dion and K Series. Disks all round. Anybody got a clue what wheel nuts i need?
