  1. Don’t forget to disconnect the speedo sensor cable as MADMALC mentioned. He should know, he was there when we didn’t manage it! Rewiring the sensor is an added irritation after wrestling with the diff mounting bolts.
  2. Many thanks for the prompt reply, put my mind at rest.
  3. Having been inspired by John Vine's excellent article in Lowflying, I thought that I'd take a look at my CSR200's quickshift lever. I've had the occasional issue over the years with replacement of the saddle at the base of the lever and that's been done again recently. However, there's still excessive lateral "waggle" in the lever. Say about 1cm lateral movement when siting in 1st gear for example. Having removed the lever it's apparent that this slack is in the spherical bearing part of the quickshift. I've a new quickshift on order and I'm hoping that this will sort the issue. Has anyone any experience of removing the short angled top extension piece to the lever, which I'm assuming is peculiar to the CSR (swoopy dash?)? I'm presuming (hoping) that it's a screw-on attachment and a wrestle with vice and molegrips will be the order of the day. Any extra information would be most welcome. With thanks, Roger
  4. No wish to complicate the information, but I've run 23/22 on my 200 for years with no adverse effects on tyre wear. We've done a lot of touring milage, 2 up with a chunk of luggage. I've dropped to 18 if out for a solo run or trackdays. CR500s so far on mine, about to dip into ZZSs.
  5. Thanks again for replies. Will make an attempt to check my car next week, it's all about preparing for Coventry sprint in my 270R at present. Sorry to confuse you Blue 7, just happened to be logged on under my AR role when wrestling with the local internet abroad. Usually post as Rogercsr7, hope my fault doesn't involve things like resistors, a bit out of my comfort zone.
  6. Back home, will investigate ASAP. Thanks all for advice. Just a complete shutdown, not a hint of a needle flicker. Rest of the car run faultlessly all the way back from the Algarve.
  7. Thought I'd canvas views on my speedo failure while making my way across Portugal & Spain back to the UK. Think that the Portuguese combination of cobbles and town speed bumps from hell might be the route cause of the failure. I hate to think what the gearbox chassis loop looks like under the car. The speedo just suddenly shut down and had been fine, no issues at all. First thoughts would be our little sensor friend by the rear wheel expiring, but I wondered if anyone had any other thoughts before I get home and order another sensor. I'll keep Alan Reeve's thread on Chitchat in mind. When I had speedo problems a couple of years ago someone posted a source from Famill. Do we know if that's still available or are there any other alternatives to the £50+ Caterham part? Thanks for looking.
