  1. That's great Paul and thank you. I'll have this car well sorted one of these days. Still trying to source a local mech. for the addition of the Apollo tank and gear box gasket replacements. As God is my witness, I shall see some track time at some point :) You guys are the best and thanks again!
  2. Thanks ECR, Do you know if they are M10 x 40 or M10 x 45?
  3. This link says M10 x 40. Geez, I really don't know what I'm looking at lol.... http://www.fastgrandad.co.uk/documents/S3%201995%20Build%20Manual/Section%2010.%20Ford%20Engine%20and%20Gearbox%20install.pdf
  4. Thanks Paul, I gathered from the PDF's that they are M10 x 45. Can that be right?
  5. Hello again gents, Might any of you know the dimensions of the two bolts that attach the bell housing to the sump for this engine as it appears I have one missing and will need to find a replacement. It looks about two inches but I'm unsure of it's dimensions and the gent from Caterham needs to be able to advise me as to whether these are in stock. Thanks again gents,
  6. Thanks for the advice and responses gents. Very much appreciated. Paul, I'll pm you my email add. Cheers gents,
  7. Thanks for the responses guys, What I noticed when the pan was off was that the pick up pipe did have the groove (looked like an iverted v) in it so I assume it was modified slightly. The rim seemed that it did have a file taken in one area of the perimeter at the opening. Is there a way to fix the oil seals in the transmission without removing the engine? Might anyone know the parts for the transmission oil gaskets and perhaps where I might find them? I'll have to find a competent shop here in Toronto that can do this work which is a tall order for these types of cars. Most shops have already claime they don't want to tackle it. Thanks again gents,
  8. Hi guys, More newb growing pains for me I'm afraid. After purchasing my 1994 HPC with a C20Xe, I had a freind (who has the same model, extremely rare in Toronto or in Canada for that matter) test the car and give it a once over. He mentioned that he noticed the engine was suffering from oil surge under braking etc. I pulled the sump pan today only to find the baffle in great shape so I simply re-installed the pan. Now I have three areas of concern that I could use some help with. 1. How can I address the oil surge issue as I do wish to track the car at some point. 2. I noticed a tranny leak at the input AND output of the tranny. How can these be fixed and what parts would I need? Do the engine need to be pulled for this work? The leaks aren't too terrible but they do bother me and my clean garage floor I'm afraid. Thanks a bunch gents,
  9. I ordered two of the gaskets sets found on the ebay link. Thanks for all your help gents. When they arrive, I may ask for the procedure from someone who has executed such a task before I get started. Boy I'll be so nervous :)

  11. Super awesome again gents. I'll be ordering these this week. Not sure when I'll get the courage up to attempt this work myself. Likely when the overpowering urge to visit the track for the first time hits :)
  12. Thanks again gents. I'll be attempting to track these down and likely start with local dealers first if it is thought that they can found here. Question, is there a specifc type of engine that I would ask for the dealer to reference to ensure they have the correct gaskets? I assume the Pontiac Lemans then?
  13. you guys are the best! thanks Paul. I'll be sure to look them up.
  14. Thanks Paul, Unfortunately here in Toronto, Canada, we haven't any Opel or Vx dealers and i'm not sure GM here would be able to accommodate. That being said, might you know of any online shops that might carry these? I just checked underneath my car and it does appear there are some leaks, likely from the sump pan. Drat! Now it must be addressed :) Thanks again Paul,
  15. Ah I see. Thank you for that clarifcation David. I think I might refrain from removing my sump until such time as I can get my hands on the proper gaskets as I'm fearing that once I put it all back together, I'll be cursed with more leaks. I suppose this means no track time for me until at least next season or when I get my hands on the gaskets as Caterham seems to be out of them.
  16. Thanks again guys, David - Can you pls explain what is studding and how to execute? "Fully recommend ECR's suggestion of using some short 6mm studding and nuts to hold the sump up whilst you tighten everything up." Are you refering to the silicone beeding? Thanks in advance,
  17. Thanks for the feedback guys, I've not attempted the removal as of yet but will do so in accordance with your advice if in fact I don't need additional gaskets/parts etc. as I seem only to have the spare baffle itself. If gaskets bits are required to refit properly then I will likely make an order to Caterham to get the right bits before attempting to replce the baffle and only drive on the road which means I'd likely haveto wait until next season/year to get this car on a track. Quick question, what is an appollo tank and how can this be fitted? Thanks again guys,
  18. Hi Guys, Just another newbie question here. I've got a spare foam baffle that I would like to install but I thought I'd check to see the procedure before given it a try. Also, I would like to try this 94 HPC out on a track soon (nothing too high speed) but have heard that this engine has problems with oil surge. Should I be overly concerned? Thansk in advance gents,
  19. So, I was able to sort out the leak with the gasket maker material so now I suppose once I ensure the air block is removed, I'll start to give her a proper cleaning. Was also thinking of a cycle wing conversion but I suppose if there are no benefits insofar as performace goes, I'll likely stick with the clamshells and Id rather not have the bullet holes along the side skins. Looking forward to spending some quality time witha nice tidy wash. I'll take some pics after the fact and try to post.
  20. Thanks guys, I have managed to remove the remaining bit of screw that had sheared off and luckily, I had a spare bag of oil sump bolt/screws that fit perfectly so that was lucky. I've reassembled as I couldn't see any crack per se although it is still leaking. I'm going to dissassemble and apply some silicone today to see if this fits the bill.It it des stop leaking, I suppose I didn;t crac my bits after all. Stay tuned and thanks for all your help gents.
  21. Question, is there suppose to be a gasket between the hose bit and the thermo housing attached to the block? I didn't see one when I took the piece off and and it seems it's only a metal to metal fitment.
  22. No that doesn't look like the part. Mine has two sensors attached. That pic only shows one. I'm not sure how to post pics on here but if you message me your email address, I can send you a pic. Really having a tough time getting this car sorted for use. Thanks Jonathan,
  23. Okay, upon further investigation, I tried to back off the screws to see if I cracked the thermo housing and sure enough the last bolt/screw head sheared clean off so I hope I didnt crack the thermo housing but it seems I'll need t get that bit of screw out of the thermo housing and bracket. I hope these screws are easy to find? I'm not sure I cracked my thermo housing still. Once step at a time it seems.
  24. Thinking more and more that I might have cracked the thermo housing. Anyone know where I can source these bits?
  25. Hi guys, I seem to have pickled myself once again after discovering a small weep in my cooling system. I made a thread sometime back about my pressurizing cooling system so I have since taken the advice given to and seemed to have sorted that but now have another issue. So, once reassembling the cooling system and re-fastening the thermo housing and hose to the block bracket, I took the car for a run and brought it back only to find another leak located in this general area. I attempted to tighten the three nuts attaching the thermo housing to the block and i might hve overdone it as there seems to be a bigger leak now in this area. I think I stripped the bolt thread from the inside and perhaps compromised the the thermo housing fitment to the bracket attached to the block. What do you guys reckon I can do from here? If I cracked the bracket or thermo housing itself these parts will not be easily sourced here in NA. It seems the last bolt didn't tighen all the way and rotated too much so I left it for now as it wasn't getting more difficult to turn leading me to believe it may have been buggered. Anywasy, as always gents, you'r advice is appreciated.
