  1. For sale £45 face value. I have a spare ticket for Brian Cox's Christmas Show at Hammersmith Odeon on 1st Dec. It's like The Infinite Monkey Cage but with added music.  An evening of live Comedy, Music and Science with astronauts, comedians and special guests.  There is usually a big name to close the show.  This has recently been The Cure, Duran Duran and New Order.  It's a great night and we have great seats, anyone interested ?

  2. The needle is quite steady, just never seemed to get up to 4 bar.  It was just a small but noticeable drop, but I guess that's normal after an 800 mile trip. We've now got 800 miles back, so I'll try to get a suitable top-up.  Don't know about the foam baffle.

  3. I'm currently in the middle of a long road trip and noticed the oil pressure reading dropping over the first half from around 3 to nearly 2, which looked a bit low to me.  I checked the oil level (with the engine running) and although difficult to see it looks like the level is a couple of xx from the top of the yellow part of the dipstick.  Should I top up for the return journey ? And what would be choice of oil, 10W40 semi-synthetic, if I can get it ?

  4. We, too, resorted to the half-hood to escape the turbulence but it just got too hot.  Maybe without doors, but that kind of defeats the object.

I found a well-fitting baseball cap to be essential, a small version felt like I was about to lose it all the time, a good peak is a necessity down here to avoid a permanent squint.

  5. After a 3-day trip to the south of France Mrs teembo is less than pleased with the rearrangement of her hair by the combination of motorway driving and the mistral.

What do our ladies do to keep their hair in check, short of a flying helmet ?  The hair here is too short to be tied back, but long enough to flap around wildly.

  6.

Just checked my tyre pressure for the first time (I know) in preparation for a long trip.  Running Avon ZZ1 (I know) 205/45 R16 on my VVC SV.

They were at 19/20psi but the build manual recommends 16psi, so I brought them down to that.  What would be the collective wisdom for a long road trip fully laden ?

    Thanks in anticipation.

  7. PaulMel - thanks very much for that, it is now clear.  There are two studs, which look like they are the master switch fixings, one of which supports the white resistor and the other is connected to the resistor and must be the earth.  I guess I can use either of these.  Thanks again.

  8. ScottR 400 - thanks but I don't have a big grommet in the fuse box or that would have been ideal.

JonL - thanks, that's brilliant.  I thought at first glance it was riveted in (dark under there !) but the screws came out easily and I'm going to to use the battery live terminal.  It too big for the supplied connector, but I'll get round that.  Looking around for an earth.  There are a couple of nuts on the bodywork but they are awkward and don't want to move.  Can I use either of the other two connections on the master switch ?  There is a black wire going to a white plastic cuboid about two inches long and then around 180 degrees to the opposite side of the battery master switch.  Would that be an earth ?

Thanks for all the help so far, I've learned things I didn't know and I'm nearly there !
