  1. I'm not getting either a spark or any fuel from the injectors.

This could indicate a failing crank sensor. I had one on an old Corsa that played up occasionally , then worked perfectly for a few weeks before acting up again.. Unfortunately the car was not OBD compliant so I had to work out what was going wrong the old fashioned way......

Is Emerald OBD compliant? If not it might be worth testing your sensor (or just fit a  new sensor  for what they cost)

  2. Due to impending house move I have to reduce the amount of 'junk' that is cluttering up the spare bedroom, so I have my collection of lowflying mags available for a donation to the club charity..would prefer that they go as one lot.

All issues from September 1990 to December 2018 , except Nov 92 (suspect there wasn't one issued), Nov 14 & April 18 both AWOL , no idea why....

    Collection only please.

  3. I would have thought that the temperature sensor should be in the cylinder head in the hole provided by Ford.

1990 manual shows it in this position and the fan switch in the ally thermostat tower.

edited to add:- there is no provision on my radiator to fit any sensors...

  4. You can sit down Jim  , you've remembered it right! *thumb_up*

One thing to be aware of if removing the top cover of the main gearcase are the three detent springs that will probably attempt to dive into the box.. sliding a sheet of paper or thin card between the cover and case can help prevent this. The selector fork retaining bolts should be lockwired to stop them loosening off. One other possibility is the mainshaft locknut coming loose.

Does the gearlever move to the same position that it used to or is its movement being  restricted by something?

  5. Is this a new problem or have you only just noticed it? I ask because when I put my 1990 De-dion car on the road a fellow motorist kindly informed me that I "had no f'in brake lights", which I replied to with a good shove on the pedal to show that, actually, I did have the requisite illumination... To investigate what was happening I wired a warning lamp from the brake switch and found that it was possible, especially in slow moving traffic, to stop the car using light application of the brakes without illuminating the brake lights. I gave up on the pressure switch at this point and engineered a mechanical switch operated from the brake pedal, set up so that the lights come on as the slack in the pushrod is being taken up. Oddly enough Caterham changed to a mechanical set up sometime in the 90's....

  6. The rear brakes are working but not on initial application of the pedal, they start working when the brake lights come on as pressure builds up. This indicates that the switch is doing its job

If your car has drum rear brakes this could indicate that they require adjustment, the initial pedal movement taking up the  excess slack, pressure only building once the shoes make contact with the drum.

  7. I have for sale a standard flat face 1600 crossflow cylinder head .

The head is unmodified, all threads are intact, and shows no evidence of cracks or other damage. It is a used head so is being sold as suitable for rebuild. Price £75.

Edited to add item is located in Chesterfield , close to M1 Jn 29.
