  1. I think, the modern tubeless tires also makes the wire wheels obsolete. I could be wrong but I get an impression that wires actually pears into the rim and is held on the "other side" of the rim in side the tire.
  2. Sounds like the wire-wheels has no special advantages other than its distinct look which I personally don't even find them pretty. I have found some manufacturers who makes them for modern cars. here
  3. Great infos guys, This club is full of experts as always.-
  4. Hi all, I have some questions concerning the classical wire wheels: 1-What are the advantages over conventional steel wheels? 2-Are the spokes in tension or are they in compression as well? 3-Why are they not in use any more? Etc… A ll standard, Classic 1.7 X-flow
  5. Man,,, it does look great, I want one!!!
  6. paulD, thanks for the info . I am catching it and begin to see the picture. I had no idea that there are such fundamental differences between a racing v8 and a road going version! It really is very interesting
  7. PaulD, That is the exact problem my boss is having with his Leman prototype cars, due to high vibrations (I think) his cars are having electronic problems especially the discharge head lamps. Not a pleasent thing to happen in the middle of the night doing 170mph. But why would v8 cause more problem than the v10? Edited by - YW Sin on 14 Jan 2005 21:20:32
  8. I once had an occation to drive a top end race kart. The thing had soo much vibration, I couldn't floor the kart even on straight line because i just couldn't see properly out side the helmet. What a scary experience that was!
  9. How about the pilots who has to drive the thing for 24 hours? Surely a comfy LM car has a LOTS of advantage over a harsh one??
  10. I see that it is one of the strong point but what about the vibration it causes making complicated electronic parts (which there are many in modernday racing cars)vulnerable?
  11. Hi all.. I have just been wondering why do all racing cars mount their engines solid on the chassis? Are there arey advantages of doing so?
  12. Great info Angus. Caterhams' love to rust is not unknown but again I feel that it is a crying shame that CC has neglected quality aspect of their products.
  13. Just bought the battery from SARL BATTERIES FRANCE. Not the Banner though, as they had no plus on the left side. but got something of equivalent. Paid, 55.5 Euro. But I have to fill the acid my self (acid provided) which is not a big deal. Thanks again, Pierre Gillet
  14. I have just checked the banner battery price over here with, SARL BATTERIES FRANCE. They quoted 55.50€. Well that is very reasonable! Sorry, Graham Sewell
  15. Pierre, you are a hero! 😬
  16. Thanks Chris as usual, I will hunt for the hydrometer over here in France , I am sure some good car shops got them. Other wise, there is a friendly family owned car garage near by, so I will ask them.
  17. Bare, Thanks for the info. But how do you test them?
  18. thanks guys! There is a BMW bike dealer just near door to me! 😬 Now,, I wonder how much they cost. (being a beemer dealer!)
  19. Wouldn't mind getting a new one but Banner batteries are not so easy to find in France. ☹️ Thanks for the advises any way, i think I will try to refill with new acid and see how it goes. Just for fun!
  20. David, We all know how you have been thrashing your car about in the racing track! 😬
  21. Personally I have just decided to put it this way after many years of thinking; -7 is infinitely safer than a motor bike anyway for a comparable degree of fun. (Not to mention being more comfortable and practical!) -There is no such thing as "safer” car, it is all relative. -When you are in a less safer car such as a Seven, you pay more attention, thus less chance to get in to trouble. -Thrill without the element of danger is no real thrill.
  22. WOW,this looks like a good deal! Some body grab it quick!
