Ade Ray
A few days ago someone reversed into my 7, cracking the nose cone. The replacement nose has arrived which is a standard pattern/fibreglass/yellow, what I thought would be an exact replacement for the original nose. the good news is that when trying the nose up against the car it actually seems to fit better. The bad news is that my '7' grill that I salvaged off the old nose cone does not come anywhere near to fitting. has anyone any ideas as to why that may be? Area Representative Crudders Posted January 12, 2002 Area Representative Share Posted January 12, 2002 Ade, Forgive me if this is obvious but there are 2 types of nosecone - the 7 grille only fits the later type, used (I think) from about 95 on. My car had the earlier type and I took the opportunity of changing to the later type when I too suffered a 'nudge'. Interestingly my replacement grille was also a much better fit on the car, and much better finished, than the original that came with the kit. The later cone has a single flange with slots cut into it to receive the prongs of the grille. The earlier cone had an additional return with 4 holes and the grille was face fixed to this. If you have the right type I guess it (or maybe your grille?) just hasn't been made too well. Either way up, it sounds like you've got a return trip. Hope this helps and Good Luck. Graham Perry
I bought a standard Caterham one last year and it was a straight fit for my 1990 car which still has the original nose.
