phillinda
Just replace my sump gasket (wet sump) as oil was leaking through the old one. When I removed the sump there was no oil in the bellhousing or on the flywheel so don't think it's the crank oil seal. Still getting a slight oil leak from the gap between the sump and bottom of engine (technical term at the rear N/S corner of the sump near the bellhousing. If I stick a bit of kitchen towel in the gap it stops the oil running down the edge of the sump so I know that's where it's coming from. I've checked all the bolts are tightened up. Any ideas what else I can do to stop the leak? Phil
BAZZA
New gasket and correct tightening sequence and torque setting seemed to cure mine Barry
phillinda
Is there a specific torque setting for the sump bolts as I don't want to end up stripping the thread. At the moment they're 'hand-tight'. How much difference does the tightening sequence make? My understanding is that the 4 corners should be left until last. Is that correct? Mike Bees
Are you sure it's not leaking from the rear exhaust camshaft seal and running down the block until it finds it's way to the place where you think it originates? Mike
