John E
Having established that I cannot rely upon getting decent fuel for my leaded crossflow on this years pilgrimage to Le Mans and not wanting to do a head rebuild en route wot say you all on the most reliable additive. Dartmoor7
Miller's VSP Plus (available from Demon Tweeks).Endorsed by FBHVC (only four products passed their tests) and gives a 2 octane boost so ideal to add to 95 octane unleaded to give protection and correct octane. Slipper man
What about an Octane raiser for cars with Catalysts? Has anyone else noticed that Super is now only 97 RON? Is there something that can be added that won't b****r caytalysts?
Allan Haighton
I don't know whether this helps, but I'm using the Castrol Lead replacement which includes an with additional octance booster. I've had no problem using this with unleaded so far, even though I've replaced by Caterham unleaded Aldon distributor with the equivalent model for 97 octane. I chose the Castrol product manily becaus Castrol are a long-estbalished company - and its readily available at Halfords. Its also passed the Historic Vehicle tests. Cost are £10 for a 250 ml bottle, treating 250 litres of fuel.

Dartmoor7
For Keith: Yes,you're not the only one to notice the drop in SUL octane, the answer for me is Millers Octane-Plus C, which is safe for cats and gives a 1.9 octane boost. Slipper man
Thanks Jerry. Where do you get it from, and how much? I wonder ogf there is enough demand for the club to negotiate some discounts??
Dartmoor7
Keith, Demon Tweeks, although I imagine any decent car place could order from Millers. DT price:£2.97+VAT+postage for 250ml which treats 50 litres to give a 1.9 octane boost so you might be OK at 'half-dosage' although I'm not sure if the dosage requirement is 'linear'. Jerry Parker. Eric McLoughlin
I found some Millers VSP at my local Les Smiths (Farnborough, Hants) the other day. As I speak I'm having my head converted to run on unleaded (the car's at Redline Components). Will it be still worthwhile using an additive and/or an octane booster after conversion? gareth
I believe Octane Boosters tend to use manganese, which has just been linked to CJD. So we might have a bunch of mad cows driving se7ens, perhaps we already do !!. Seriously I was going to use Millers in my se7en this years but I am reconsidering, moo !! Allan Haighton
FWOW, the Castrol LRP/octane booster use ferrocene to increase the octane rating. Ferrocene is an organic chemical chemical containing iron. It doesn't contain manganese. Now ask me an udder one.
buroz
A bit late I know, but Millers does seem to be classed as the best additive (mags & trade). You'll be able to get it at most (if not all) A1 Motor Stores.
Vogon SuperTrooper
Later still but Millers web site lists all its stockists, by region. http://www.millersoils.co.uk/distributors/stockists_se-e.htm
