Pete L
I'm about to move my battery from the offside under the carbs to the nearside.. nothing new there. I have no problem with the heavy cable to the starter but how do I extend the +ve feed to the loom - what size cable do I need and how do I connect it reliably back into the existing cables? Thanks Pete
Nigel Riches
Pete, give this lot a call, VEHICLE WIRING PRODUCTS. 0115 9305454 Hope this number is still current, as it's from a 1998 catalogue. They always were real helpful and prompt. Regards Nigel.
EFA
65 strand 4.5 mm section cable will be fine. (See page 3 VWP catalogue (2000 edition) If you buy a proper (ratchet) crip tool ( Vehicle Wiring Products ref DV5) and use the large yellow plastic butt crimps (VWP ref YB), this will be fine. I did this in this manner on my loom years ago and its been fine since. Be aware the cable you are extending is not the +ve feed to the loom, but the charging feed to the battery from the alternator. (which doubles as a loom feed when the engine is not running) When finished remember the loom wrapping tape is non adhesive! You just need small bits of adhesive tape to hold it together when finished. The number for vehicle wiring products is correct.
