Bonnet Cut Outs for Cars with TB's

On this months front cover of Low Flying there is a car pictured in the top left hand corner, pale green with '36' on the nose cone that appears to have a custom made cover over the bonnet cut out.

 

I have a Vauxhall powered car with TB's, a new Raceco silencer that has really quietened everything down, but the induction noise is still extremely loud.

 

Does this solution as in the green car pictured, lower the noise level considerably?

 

Does it have an effect on performance as the opening looks relatively modest?

Any cover over the TB`s/airfilter will reduce the noise significantly hence the R400 race cars have a blanking plate to fill the bonnet induction hole at noise sensative venues.

Simon, I have fitted an airbox to my VX and there is a big reduction in noise.

 

Not that I wanted it quieter, I got it to protect the filter from the sand that blows around here.
