Eugene
Chris at The 7 Workshop has just informed me my Seven tops the noise level at 121dB. Any one beat that? Guess I wont be on any racetracks for a while... Small Boy - with Big Toy!
Rob Walker
I find 121 Dba hard to believe. Is this measured without the silencer box fitted and at full rpm? Is his tool calibrated. Edited by - Rob walker on 8 Jun 2001 09:23:
Eugene
The silencer is an old small one and as it rings when you tap it I guess its empty! The measurement was at 4,000 rpm and the kit is calibrated I believe. I think I may go for a Techcraft as The 7 Workshop seem to be supplying a number of them at the moment. Small Boy - with Big Toy! Roger King
Rob, I have never looked to see if Chris's tool is calibrated. Do you think it would be likely to have a vernier scale along the length? Would you like to look for me because I'm not that brave? I can say that the same gauge generally agrees with noise tests at circuits to around 1db and that many of the cars that Chris have 'Techcrafted' come out below 100db. I can also confirm that Eugene is BLOODY LOUD, hitting an incredible resonance around 4700rpm. Simos
I don't see how you're going to do that calibration without using one of those tranquiliser dart guns... from inside an armoured car... a big armoured car. I believe the 121, I got 120 on Tony Isherwood's db meter (I could've said tool but that would be unnecessarily gratuitous teeth.gif) The genersal reading was 108 but as I changed the rpm a barking resonance gave 120. That was also an old knackered 4" diam silencer.
John Prescott
From the Departmant of Pork Pies. This raises an important issue, which, being a bigoted, egotistical, narrow minded lardarse, I feel it is important to raise - the issue of noise pollution. This is an important area that requires legislation, which, by gum, I will do something about when Tony tells me. John Prescott I think you're confusing me with someone who cares
Jason Plato
John , Could you also tackle violence on the streets while your at it ??? Many thanks Dave
stevefoster
Isn't Concorde 122db at take off! Makes it hard to believe a 7 can come close but 1 extra db at that end is a lot of course!
Roger King
Concorde may well be 122db at takeoff, but I bet they don't measure it 1 metre from the exhaust pipe! Edited by - roger king on 8 Jun 2001 23:11:
Rob Walker
Roger, I think I will decline the offer to have a look at "Chris`s" tool. Im not that way inclined strictly a crumpet man!
