PACR
The sumps got plenty of slivers of bearing material in it.... the quantity in the foam under No 2 big end make it a prime suspect. Time to make a shopping list..... PACR Edited by - pacr on 19 May 2004 18:56:

Peter Carmichael
At 7400rpm the normal bearings are fine. If it really is that the bearings have died, I would be looking to understand the exact mode of failure. Overheating of itself would have to be massive to result in bearing failure directly in which case the engine will be scrap. Contamination of oil with an ethylene glycol coolant will destroy bearings pretty quickly (propylene glycol is better). Before we get into wild speculation, it is time to drop the sump and look for bits of metal. There is an in between bearing spec that Rover have developed - I don't know if it is generally available now, but I believe DVA has a source.
