GaryK
Ive just balanced the carbs and set the air mixture and idle speed all OK. Checked the throttle cable is running free and replaced the throttle return spring with a new one. However, when I run the car and its hot the idle speed is up by about 100 rpm. What I have found is that the throttle return is not going back where is was seated when set up. If I push it it bottoms out and goes to the correct speed. But if I then rev the car it does the same thing. It's a single cable with a single return spring. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this. Just to add I've cleaned and lubricated all moving parts and it does work OK when cold.Gary
Roger King
First check is to disconnect the cable. If it now returns to the correct idle speed when hot the problem is in the cable or pedal linkage. If it's the same you need to investigate further, but the cable is the usual suspect.
