revilla
I'm guessing the later cars have stepper motor instruments? In which case it makes sense that of you suddenly shut off power they will just freeze where they were rather than falling back to zero as older analogue instruments would, and the 70mph on the speedo just indicates the speed you were doing when it failed. Mark w
Jim Harrisons 620R died at Brands in a very similar way . Speedo stuck and car died with no electrics as he rounded Clearways .In the end PGM sorted it by disconnecting the wiring loom that serves the instruments and reconnecting it after checking all the fuses .They never did find out what caused it but it worked fine after .If you"ve got access to Facebook you might find the thread on the 620R forum . ChrisC
The 620R have a very different relay and switch system to a standard 310R, that said the 620R switches are an option on the 310.
Peter_Bullen
I finally tested the car with the new relay and discovered that the speedometer wasn't working. Closer inspection revealed a loose wire in the speed sensor plug. .I am wondering if this was the cause of the relay failure. Pleased to say its all up and running now.
