Caterham R500 Duratec S3 Chassis No. 089 of 500

I have owned the car for 3 years, and whilst it was a clean well maintained car when purchased, I have refurbished and upgraded the car into an as new condition which for me at least is the ultimate specification. I have not only replaced or refreshed all of the running gear, all nuts & bolts & bearings & poppers have been replaced so that the car is as new. The car is in excellent all round condition and one of the cleanest around with some very high specification upgrades. The car is running paddle shift with a Quaife 6 speed sequential gearbox with a very high quality conversion which operates superbly. The engine and gearbox have had a recent refresh and are in as new condition with dyno print out.

I have taken the quantum 2 zero suspension off the car now and sold some spares. Price adjusted accordingly.


First registered 2010, Factory build no 89, 1 previous owner. The R500 CTN plate is not for sale, the car will be registered with an age related plate. I will get the car a year’s MOT prior to sale as it is about to run out and currently on SORN. I have all the various combinations or aero screens, windscreens and doors to suit whatever mood, weather or application.

Bodywork and Chassis:-

Triple layer pearlescent white with orange stripes, bare metal respray summer 2018. Original top gear colours now looks better than new. Fully protected with self-healing paint protection film.

Carbon fibre nose cone, carbon canards, carbon front and rear arches, and light gauge lightweight aluminium panels. Carbon fibre stone guards to rear arches.

Black aero fuel filler.

Series 3 chassis, excellent condition with no signs of corrosion and no accident damage. ACF 50 protected underneath and have avoided using in the wet.

Reduced length passenger foot well to allow battery mounting at low level within engine compartment for low centre of gravity. New Odyssey extreme lightweight gel racing battery.

FIA track day roll bar, freshly powder coated.

New heated windscreen (unmarked, unused).

External battery isolator switch.

Low rise headlights.

27,000 miles.

Caterham anthracite 8 spoke wheels, 13”x7”front 13”x8”rear

Avon ZZR soft compound tyres, 205 front, 245 rear.

Engine & Gearbox:-

2.0 L Duratec, standard Caterham R500 specification roller barrels, dry sump etc, refreshed by Premier Power 2500 miles ago.

Rolling road mapped to current ECU, airbox and exhaust 261 hp @8400rpm, 177 ft/ lbs by Road and track. Pulls really strong and loves to rev. The car is currently not running Lambda, but this can be easily enabled if required.

MBE 9A9 motorsport ecu upgrade with full integrated gearbox control with adjustable launch and traction control, 4 wheel speed sensors. This is a top specification motorsport ECU supplied by SBD which allows integrated gearbox control without a separate controller. The launch and traction control allows 7 various user defined strategies plus off. The system allows controlled drifts with ease and is as intrusive or not as you want it to be. It is particularly effective in the wet. With combined engine and gearbox control many additional safety features are provided, this is a high quality motorsport specification setup.

Sileck motorsport professional engine wiring loom. Some spare connections provided to allow additional sensors if required.

On board mini air compressor, valve block and carbon fibre receiver cylinder to meteor motorsport specification.

Carbon air box with foam air filter.

SBD heavy duty start motor.

Dry sump.

Raceco titanium exhaust.

Quaife 60G 6 speed sequential gearbox, with Quaife compressed air actuator. Gearbox checked and refreshed at same time as engine 2500 miles ago.

Full paddle shift conversion to Meteor motorsport specification comprising all ancillaries, with throttle blip on downshift and auto up / down shifts if enabled from the ECU. This is an amazing setup, with totally addictive full throttle upshifts allowing no let-up in relentless acceleration no pops or bangs to set off track day noise meters. All top specification components used.

Half height driver and passenger doors. (use with aero screen).

R500 gear stick & assembly (no longer required as paddle shift).

Window wiper motor and assembly (removed to reduce weight and not that effective anyway).
