As spotted by Michael, this only applies to Rallycross

Looks like most class 4 and up competitors will be needing a National A licence for next year. I would start collecting your signatures now in case it gets implemented.

The proposal is that if BHP at the wheels / weight in kg > 0.34 then you'll need a National A.

Anything over 180bhp at the wheels is likely to put you above this figure assuming most cars are no more than 520kg. My lardy 550kg car comes out at 0.4 (about 220bhp at the wheels)

I had to get 6 race signatures very quickly in 2016 to qualify for a Race National A in 2017 which is when it was implemented for racing.

Just spotted this as well for all those competing at Welsh events:

Drivers 9.2.1. Throughout practice and Competition, upon exiting from and until returning to the Paddock, when the driver is seated in the vehicle he must wear clothing, helmet and goggles complying with K.9 to 11 or, where appropriate the specific Class regulations for Drag Races. Overalls homologated to either FIA 8856-2000 or FIA 1986 standard are mandatory, with the exception of Standard Cars (11.9) where overalls must comply with (K)9.1.4. Only FIA homologated rainwear is permitted. Competitors are required to wear flame-resistant gloves (K.14.3(e)). An FIA approved FHR device, fitted in accordance with FIA regulations is mandatory for all drivers with the exception of Period Defined Vehicles, Road-going Series Production Cars and Road-going Specialist Production Cars. All these items must be produced for inspection and approval at scrutineering.

I wonder if the National A license price will be reduced, as I cannot see any benefits I receive extra for holding an A license over a B...

Anyways any one know if you have held an A previously that you need to get 6 new signatures...

Also for those worried when I got my A last time I just sent in 6 results confirmation info from clubs instead of the license signed so no major rush...

You're right Michael - I hadn't spotted that.

I expect it will eventually filter down to Speed Events. Currently if you drive a Racing or Sports Libre car over 2000cc you need a National A and that's changing to over 1100cc.

Malcolm.

it May be worth checking if there is a time limit on this before you need to collect further signatures to renew as Nat A Speed.

i need to renew next year from Speed to Race Nat A to retain my race license as it is time limited before you need to go back through the ARDS test again. It may be similar for other license grades.
