Roger Ford
Has anyone modified a car with a short (race) passenger footwell to make it a normal length one? I'm wondering about cost of parts and difficulty doing the job.Meant to phone Bruce today but forgot.
Roger Ford
Nobody done this then? Would have thought it was a popular mod for ex-race cars. Perhaps not many of them used the shortened footwell.
Support Team Shaun_E Posted April 28, 2017 Support Team Share Posted April 28, 2017 I did the reverse and that was painful enough - the Caterham part didn't fit so I ended up butchering it and using bits of right angle aluminium to attach it using pop rivets.I think the footwell is normally part of the interior side panels and floor so to extend it properly you'd need to replace the interior panels, the floor and the bulkhead. You could just extend the panels by cutting new extensions and overlapping them with the existing panels but unless you are a lot handier with a hacksaw and pop riveter than me, its a horrible job.Alternatively just get a shorter passenger
Wrightpayne
I've got the remnants of the one i took out - had to hack saw it and collapse it to get it out through the passenger foot well. Pics would show where its pop riveted. PM me with your email and I'll send some.I kept it as a template to make another just in case i wanted to put back in.
