thompster
Bought a few bits from caterham including a new scuttle trim (black rubbery strip) as mine was spitting at the end. The length they've sent is about 6 inches too short. Just checked my order and it turns out its sold per metre - doh.Is it used anywhere else on the car? Or is a 1 metre length good for the bin? Drumster
I didn't re[place mine when I rebuilt the car in 2007/08, can't say I've missed it really. In fact I think it looks better without. Just my 2p
The_ASH
Many people remove it, the only function I've found it serves is to stop water running straight into the car across the scuttle when the car is fitted with an aero of some type or a screen that's not sealing, usually though if there's that much water around you have other more important problems to deal with like not getting soaked through. Wrightpayne
I think its a safety feature to create less of a blunt edge in a crash.Ian
thompster
I thought about removing it but the old trim has marked the edge of the scuttle. Having no strong feelings either way i thought a shiny bit would look better. Seems a bit odd that when everyone needs 1.2 m of it the standard length sold is 1m.. The_ASH
Wrightpayne - Yes, probably an SVA 'feature'.thompster - It does indeed mark the edge the longer it sits there, perhaps a marker that your car has been used and not polished. I take your point that presumably Caterham would sell only 2 or so lengths of it S3, SV and CSR... all over 1m in length frustrating
