Brian Deacon
Hi Just changed the gasket on the coolant rail of my 1.6 K series. Was just about to refit the pipe with the new gasket when I found a small ring on the ground near the pipe. Its like a plain wedding band about the same diameter as a one penny piece. No idea where it came from. Now all fitted back without this piece. Anybody done this before and have some idea what it might be?
revilla
I've done it several times and never seen a piece like that! Saw the photo you posted elsewhere and still didn't look familiar. Are you sure it came from the car?
Brian Deacon
Do not remember seeing it on the drive when I started the job, but just before refit I noticed it amongst the tools and coolant rail on the floor. Sounds like it might just be coincidence. 7 always parked in that spot though so strange it should be there. All working well without it, After reading several posts on coolant rail leaks I did file the flange flat, and checked for distortion when fitting the front bolt (no washers needed though).
