R500 launch Control

Hi guys,

I've just bought a R500 D, which seems to have launch control, but I can't find any instructions for it anywhere. It's got the button (left side of steering wheel above the two stack buttons) but it's also got an additional display, to the left of the group of buttons, which looks like an additional round button but illuminates with a blue 1 when the ignition is on. Is this for the launch control? I'm told it might be for traction control, but I didn't think there ever was such a thing.

The car is manual, but it just occurs to me that it's the sort of display you might have for a sequential gearbox, anyone know?

Thanks

Thanks Nigel,

That may make sense in that it could be the grip/slip setting (1-8 in the article on a prototype) that the display is showing. Just need to work out how to scroll through them. I'll try pressing some buttons!

No probs Mike.

on my white R500, the digital display was a blue LCD type digit display the same size and location  as the dash buttons.

The Control of the setting, from one to nine, was achieved by using a rotary selector knob, which was on the tunnel top, ahead of the key fob/trinket tray.

once you had selected the exact amour of slip number, you pressed the button, and the number in the display flashed until you dropped the clutch and launched.

hope that makes some sense?

It should be pretty obvious Mike, here's a picture of mine.

Mine was one of the first R500's , a 2009 car.

I seem to recall someone mentioning that the design might have changed on later versions, and the owners manual mentions using one of the black rubberised switches either side of the stack display.

Sorry but I can't recall which button was which.
