Roger Ford
Locking a thread was overused in the old system, in my opinion. Locking makes sense if a thread has become abusive or inappropriate, but not in threads likeUserA: I need to know how to extract a broken thingumywotsitUserA: OK, never mind, I figured it out. <Thread Locked>Now next time an Officially Authorized and Paid Up TechTalk reader has the same problem, he can't post on the thread and say "how did you solve the problem"? He has to start a new thread and hope UserA happens to see it.or in For Sale:UserA: I've got a thingumywotsit for sale, five quidUserB: Yes pleaseUserC: 2nd dibsUserD: 3rd dibsUserA: Sold <Thread Locked>Now maybe I've got a thingumywotsit I'd like to offer to Users C or D, but now I'm forced to start another thread and hope they see it. Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted October 3, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted October 3, 2014 There is, however, a locked thread indicator down at the bottom [down arrow]. [puzzled face] I did ask if it was known what a "hot topic with no posts" was. I thought a hot topic was one which garnered a lot of posts in a short time. AntonyH
It's "hot topic with no *new* posts", isn't it? "New" being, "Posted more recently than your last visit" (I believe).http://www.lotus7.club/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.png
