randybugger
Gauge reading zero, popped in a new sender but no difference, grounding cable moves needle to full. Started without sender in and no oil coming from hole. Popped sump off and oil pick up pipe looks ok. Oil pump seems to pump, how do I test the over pressure valve in the pump (what does it look lile?) Any other ideas? Tony
7 wonders of the world
As you look at the mounting face of the oil pump with the grive gear facing you the OPRV is under the spring, later ones had a metal cap early ones had a pushed in open disc to secure the spring, under the spring is the plunger. worth checking the roll pin on the pump drive gear - seen them go walkies before now so the gear just spins Pick up any XF pump and pop on a new filter and you should be away to test. Long time since I looked at one but you might be able to see the plunger to see if it's seated by popping the filter off Edited by - 7 wonders of the world on 5 Sep 2014 20:34:
randybugger
If I poor some oil into one side of the pump it runs straight out of the small gallery with the oprv. Does that mean it's stuck open or is there another way of checking. The plunger is sitting about 3mm out into the gallery.
randybugger
Google images shows the plunger out about 10mm so it looks like my 3mm is a little depressed so hopefully that's my problem, I'll phone redline in the morning and order another pump. Cheers 7 wonders
