FramerateUK
I've been googling to find out about these for months, but this popped up on my search today. Finally some photos of the ZZS! Same size and profile as the ZZR (no surprise there) so the small increase in width should mean a slightly increased ride height compared to the 175/55 CR500. I am curious if these will be released in the 15" sizes too and I'm hoping they won't have the same cracking issues as the CR500!
Croc
I cannot speak for the ZZS but I can say the ZZR get the same cracking issue as the CR500. Out of 9 tires ordered for the 2 Caterhams I needed a warranty replacement on 3, even before they turned a wheel on the road. 😔 Edited by - Croc on 2 Sep 2014 17:48:
FramerateUK
Oh that's a shame! Do they crack for the same reasons? The CR500 seem to crack after too many motorway miles where the inner wall flexes too much (apparently). Did yours crack after they were stood still for a while, or stored in cold temperatures? Mark w
Are these E marked yet ? Last time i asked they weren't so no good for road use .
Croc
Not sure why the ZZRs cracked but they were stored in a warm garage by me - no cold storage. Retailer was on west coast US so not cold. I had them for 3 months before cracking was noticed. No cracking noticed since them with track usage.
FramerateUK
Quoting Mark W: Are these E marked yet ? Last time i asked they weren't so no good for road use . I've read in several places that they're replacing the CR500, so I would hope so.
Mark w
They are being used as the R300 race car wet control tyre but there not E marked . CC wouldn't sell them to me for road use .
FramerateUK
I assumed they started using them on the race series to test them properly before rolling the out across the range (and getting them E marked). Pendennis
Mark from what I know Avon wanted a year to develop them, suspect the R300's are providing that
AdC
I can add a snippet having just spoken to Avon re. E-marking. Apparently they're being tested in Italy this week, and all being well, should be available 4-6 weeks after that, so circa early / mid November. hth...
