andyjstone
Hi, After 6 years of running, maintaining and modifying a Pug 205GTI track day car for the past 6 years, this year I decided it was time for a change and have bought a Caterham Superlight. So, I'm sorry, but I'm going to ask some Newbie questions. First is about wheels. Car currently has a set of 6" Minilites and I have just purchased (but not got yet) a set of 6"/8" R500 mag wheels then I read some stuff about people having problems with them cracking and not being happy with them, even though I know two other Caterham owners who love them. So, should I or shouldn't I? Andy
Mark w
You will get split answers to this . If you are going to do lots of track days and bounce off the kerbs they might not be the best choice . If you decide to go for them plan for a bit of regular maintenance ( crack testing etc )
ChrisC
Are you taking about the MB wheels or the wheels made by KN ? Chris.
andyjstone
Not sure, what's the difference and how do I tell which is which by looking at them? Andy
ChrisC
Did you purchase them from eBay recently ? These are the KN wheels here and the MB wheels are here
andyjstone
No, bought them from the previous owner. They are the KN ones. Andy
ChrisC
The KN wheels have been the standard Caterham wheel for a good few years, so you will be fine with them.

Slipper man
The KN wheels are fine for track use (but are aluminium alloy, not mag). The MB ones are not, as I know from experience. The resulting accident from the wheel collapsing at Rockingham could have been really nasty if it had happened ½ a lap later.
