Peter G Posted August 5, 2013 Share Posted August 5, 2013 Following on from grumbling noises from front right, decided to change wheel bearings, but new race to the inner one spins inside the aluminium hub (2000 Roadsport). Ordered new hub to make sure it all fits together nicely, but is this heard of before? Have I got small bearings or is it likely that the hub has worn? simonpa Posted August 5, 2013 Share Posted August 5, 2013 What bearings did you get? The earlier hubs (with felt bushes instead of inner seals) are different to post-2001 hubs. ISTR a post where the bearings didn't fit the hubs properly. Can't remember what the issues was though... Shouldn't need new hubs either way, You can also buy the spindles separately. Peter G Posted August 5, 2013 Author Share Posted August 5, 2013 I've had to get a new stub axle, and my technical advisor (ie no 1 engineer son) said hub was now burgered. I've got the felt washer type, which is what was in there and is on the other side too. Hubs were revised after my car was made, so should all fit. Stationary M25 Traveller Posted August 5, 2013 Share Posted August 5, 2013 That's not right. Cup mustn't spin in hub Peter. You should have to drift or press it in. Peter G Posted August 6, 2013 Author Share Posted August 6, 2013 Shiny new hub arrived today, about to cooked at gas mark 4 for 30 minutes and the race drifted in.
