Changing diff nose oil seal with diff in place?

Looking to replace the nose oil seal on my English diff. Is it possible to replace the seal without taking the diff out? I have looked into the marking of the nut to go back to the correct pre load etc. Just thinking of time but do not want to cut corners

Yes - or at least it was on my Westfield a good few years ago.

I wouldn't like to try it, I'm pretty sure it would be easier to remove the diff.

 

I used to own a Westfield SEi and I remember there being a bit more room in the tunnel than there is on my S3.

Did you manage to do the seal change John or did you whip it out?

The Ford English axle has a curshable bush on the pignon for the preload setting, so it's a diff out job.
