GordonW
I'm assured that the throttle body mounting that blocks off the water outlets from the head/manifold that currently connect to the expansion tank and bottom hose is absolutely fine. Any views or experience of doing this please?
ECR
Are you asking if it's ok to totaly blank off the water outlets from the front offside of the head ? If so the answer's no. There should be an outlet from that area to the header tank. This allows any air that collects in the head to vent to the tank as well as any expanded water If the air can't escape you'll get local hot spots developing. All the manifolds I have seen have this facility although with some you need to drill and tap an outlet. The Jenvey manifold that I have needed drilling in this fashion. Bob Simon
The larger hose to the submarine pipe(lower rad hose) is the only thermostat bypass. I would think this hose is absolutely necessary for circulation when the stat is closed. Edited to add: Oops, I just remembered that the VX has an internal bypass using a two stage thermostat. I typed without benefit of my morning coffee......Never mind. Edited by - Bob Simon on 2 Aug 2011 13:20:
