Area Representative marcos59 Posted February 10, 2010 Area Representative Share Posted February 10, 2010 I use Ultralite 4 ones with AP "race" MC. I'm not very satisfy. Car is used only on road and pedal feeling is very (too) hard with this type of MC Race MC seemed to be the right choice to me as calipers have 4 pots..but it work not as good as Caterham AP 4 pots caliper with "race" AP MC. Witch master cylinder do you use? std one or "race" one? Any similar experience ? Thanks 😶🌫️
Damdy-Cash
Hi, no experience as I have to mount my Hyspecs but I have done a search on the same topic. Seems that most of the people have a standard MC and this works very well with the Hyspecs. I have also read posts with the same problem as you with the race one. So I keep the standard one. cheers Volker German Sevener in Scotland
TobyCoulson
I've got the Ultralite 4 pot which I got from RiF and this is what he said "From what I have been told you are best to stay with the standard, if you don’t like the general feel then change to the bigger version. It should not effect the braking. The AP brakes from CC are just not matched to the disc and CC answer was a bigger master cylinder. Up to you. The brakes will be fine with both." Mike Biddle
I havre the ultralites and have reatined the standard MC. If you change to the standard MC then th pedal effort will be lower.
Myles
Car is used only on road and pedal feeling is very (too) hard with this type of MC I started with the standard MC but couldn't get the feel I wanted at all - too spongey (might - just possibly) might have been partly due to a tired MC (seals), but I don't think there was much wrong with it. I then put the race MC on as you have - and managed to get a wonderfully-hard pedal. No annoying slack. Consistant and reliable. I guess it's partly personal preference - I strongly dislike dead slack at the top of the pedal (as I seem to have on my Westie at the moment) and like a hard pedal that I can stand on. Do you wear race-boots by the way? Is your lack of feel with the race MC maybe just down to 'inappropriate' footwear that is robbing you of the sensitivity you (feel you) need? 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester Racing 7s Ecosse™ 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester-Racing-Sevens.com
