Caterham hub/flanges

Are all the current front hubs from CC in aluminium or is it just the uprated brake version?

And are the rear ones normally steel?

Are the front and rear hubs exactly the same as each other?

Why are the front ones on the CC shop called hubs and for the rear called flanges????

I want to get my order right *wink* Parts Dept seem to be rather busy today otherwise I would ask CC.

Thanks

Richard,

This is just my understanding and may be wrong!

The original hub was ali, after problems with some spliting on race cars an 'uprated' version with a steel centre was added.

Later the version with a larger diameter half shaft was introduced in ali and the older uprated version dropped.

When I split one I looked into this and the part steel ones were no longer available and the cost of teh full upgrade put me off.

Hope this helps

Matt

Front hub is a hub - carries the bearings inside, and the disc and wheel outside.

Rear flanges simply sit in the bearing carrier, drive shaft through the middle, disc carried one side, wheel the other - so it's simply a mounted flange.

So, front and rear are not the same.
