happylarry
I've been gradually removing various bits of interior trim over the past few months, to take the car back to its basic spec. However, I need to clean the ally floor, which has got a load of glue residue from what passed as carpet! Ditto on the transmission tunnel. Has anyone got a suggestion as to what sort of chemical I can use that will bring the ally up as new?
neilsjuke
Cellulose thinners will remove the glue and will not harm the alloy but will melt paint and plastics .
Jason Plato
Brake cleaner or any similar solvent will do the job , then use Alu Belgom and wipe off with Vienna Lime . *Sparkle Sparkle* Dave
happylarry
wipe off with Vienna Lime ...or will a lemon do? Sorry what is it and where do I get it from?
Jason Plato
vienna lime is a fine powder , i bought mine from a motorcycle spares shop ( BTP ) for a few pounds , that sells polishing kits - buffing wheels , waxes etc etc . You know the horrid blck stuff you get on the ally after you have rubbed the polish on , well dab a clean polishing cloth in the tub of lime powder and wipe over ...... all comes off to a perfect finish without the normal sweat and elbow grease teeth.gif I can now do the whole car in 3 hours . - sorry thats 3 hours for the body - another 2 for the bonnet ........
