McBreadhead
Got CC to install a heater a few years back and can't remember which way the pull/push knob is supposed to function. Which is on and off? Doesn't seem to make any difference anyway but would be nice to know if my feet are being gently roasted rather than grilled.
LazerBrain
Pulling the knob (oo-err missus) increases the heat on my '97 car. As someone said the other day, you can close up the heater outlets under the dash to further reduce the warm air flow. cheers, Darren.
CageyH
Make sure you have adjusted the cableproperly. Mine turns off. Blows cold air into the footwells, which is nice.
I.Mupferit
Have you got the flat air recirculating type or the fresh air heater? The valve on the air recirc type doesn't fully shut so will always allow some hot water to flow through the matrix and pushing or pulling the knob just gives you heating to a greater or lesser degree. A gentle simmer or full on blast furnace ❗ 😬 FWIW, when I had this type of heater originally, it was pull for more heat or push for less. Area Representative Nick Chan Posted July 16, 2006 Area Representative Share Posted July 16, 2006 Like CageyH says, adjust the cable so that the heater valve shuts off fully. When you push the cable to the bulkhead, it should move the valve to the off position (clockwise) before the cable just reaches the end of the travel. And so when the cable is fully pushed in, it is acticing like a spring on the valve and holding it completely closed. Adjusting the cable by a couple of mm's makes quite a difference. Paul Formston
Hi I have a 05 modle roadsport and how ever I adjust the cable the valve doe's not turn off so I have linked the heater out at Normans the other week because the cock pit temp was unbearable in France I think the valve must be knackered Regards Paul
