Sigma Roadsport 125 cam cover tips? RTV sealant?

What is the a accepted wisdom with regard to using RTV on the cam cover seal/head interface?

 

I have a small seeping oil leak from the exhaust side of the cam cover and plan to replace the gasket/seal, I'm hoping to get the part/s from my local friendly Ford dealer as CC are out of stock. Should I ask for a tube of suitable sealant or just fit it "dry"? Some appear to add RTV to the corners where the seal goes over the cams.

Is there a torque setting for cam cover bolts? And any other top tips appreciated

Cover has a reusable rubber seal but check it for small `nicks` and make sure it stays in position whilst you refit it (can get trapped). RTV or Hylomar the bearing caps (as you said). Torque 10Nm or 7 lb ft. All fairly straight forward.....enjoy

If this seal is reusable should I be able to just remove it and check for damage and providing all is OK clean it up/degrease and refit?

It never leaked before a cam belt change ( carried out by a respected dealer) but since then has annoyingly seeped a little oil on and off.

Yeh, we all do that as we get older

You could clean the seal surface with isopropyl alcohol and apply a film of Hylomar. Rolls Royce used to use it and its not gooey.
