moorsd123
Hi All,More than a little frustrated right now! Trying to remove the fuel pump on my R400D and the plastic fuel line into the sender snaps off!! It looks like you need some special pliers to remove the fuel line so I can get the snapped part out but there seems a number of different styles of pliers available?Anyone know which type I need to remove this sort of connector please?.... moorsd123
Panic over....sorted it!Now that the new fuel pump is on order, does anyone have any idea on the recommended torque when tightening the lock ring back up...it seemed stupidly tight trying to get it undone?? John Vine
If you mean this large black ring, I'm not aware of any special torque setting. When I refitted my pump recently, I used this tool to tighten the ring until it felt "about right" (!)By the way, how did you remove the snapped plastic stub? The connector at the fuel rail simply unclips. Does the other end work the same way (I've never explored it)?JV
moorsd123
Yeah the black lock ring. I've got a tool specifically to undo it and my first thought was like yourself on how tight, it's just it was soooo tight to undo it made me wonder!I figured out that the fuel line has an area to push on the flat side of the connector which allows it to be pulled off. I didn't notice this at first, as a lot of these connector types have different coloured plastic on the area that needs to be pushed, while others need special pliers to remove. John Vine
Thanks for that. So both ends of the fuel line have "quick" connectors. That's handy to know. This is the fuel rail connector on my 2008 R400D: To release, I simply press on the arrowed tab.JV
