Last years event
A glorious day more like high summer than mid-September and an array of sparkling and not so sparking Sevens lined up for this year’s London Concourse at the Hare and Hounds in Osterley.
Judged by Oliver White of HWM and Tony Pashley, past Editor of Low Flying Magazine , the Prize winners were Craig Webb with his incredibly smart 2022 Caterham Super Seven, (S7CXW) winner of the Best 4 Pot Prize, Nick Boulter, winner of the Best 3 Pot Prize with his equally beautiful and recently home built 170S and John Rae, winner of the Scruffy but Fast prize with his frankly terrifying and much modified 2016 Caterham Superlight R400 previously owned by Club Legend John Aston, normally photographed with all four wheels off the ground (the car not John Aston) and covered in genuine Anglesey mud. The TJD 24" Titanium Jump bike on the back of the car is an optional extra.
Amir Jahannia won the prize (a gallon of oil) for the furthest drive having left Battersea at 5.00am and driven to Osterley via Burford in the Chilterns.
As promised Oliver arrived in his freshly minted Isle of Man Green 620R SV, on sale for £59,995, an awesome machine with heated seats which Oliver says are a revelation (as is the rest of the car). Oliver is busy building his own academy car in a dark corner of the new HWM service centre and looks forward to keeping us fully supplied with new and used Sevens over the next few years. Having Caterham sales and service just down the road in Weybridge is a real treat for all of us daft enough to still be living in London. If you want to buy the 620 give Oliver a call on 07920851728
And breaking news, George North, aged 15 months and heir of David North and partner Mineko pictured at the wheel of Craig Webb’s Super Seven has agreed to be the first president of the under-5’s Caterham Appreciation Club. As co-owner of a bright yellow 620R, George is already an expert on six speed sequential gear boxes and is looking forward to many hours of happy tinkering with his very large new toy. He has also asked to join the judging panel next year.
Thanks also to the team at the Hare and Hounds, Daisy and Matthew, who as always made us feel welcome and wanted and to Bob Baker and Billy the Dog who provided logistics support and to everyone who as usual dipped into their pockets to support our Club Charity PCR
Next year’s Concourse is on Saturday 21st September. Details above.
