CARROTLAND VISIT TO THE IPSWICH TRANSPORT MUSEUM
    SATURDAY, JUNE 29th, 2024
Update Friday 28th June - The Council have decided to resurface one of the roads.
Please see latest suggested route in the attached documents below.
Be sure to have a full tank of fuel at the beginning,
We’re pleased to announce a visit to the Ipswich Transport Museum on Saturday 29th June.  This houses a collection of over 100 major transport and engineering objects which were made or used in the Ipswich area. The amazing selection of local vehicles is supported by a variety of small exhibits, display material and ephemera. So, whether you are interested in buses, lorries, bikes, cranes or carriages, social history or just want to know a bit more about the area, you will find the museum a fascinating place, which should appeal to all ages & gender.
The museum will open especially for us, with the guided tour scheduled for 2:30pm and costs £10, payable on the door, preferably cash.  Tea / coffee can also be purchased during the afternoon. Depart and make your own way home from around 4:30pm
To further enjoy our Sevens we are proposing a Blat – meeting at Goodies Food Hall near Long Stratton where you can fuel yourselves before setting off (coffee / breakfast / brunch).  A suggested route (available as a gpx. file and/or map) will take us through some of Norfolk & (mainly) Suffolk’s finest towns & villages, ending at the Transport Museum.  This suggested route is circa 70 miles and is likely to take a couple of hours – plus optional refreshment stop!  Expect to leave Goodies at around 11:30 (so arrive an hour earlier for coffee etc).
Simon Metcalfe & Ian Head have organized the day, and in return a donation bucket for the Club’s chosen charity Prostrate Cancer Research will be present at the museum if you choose to relieve yourself of some change.
Attached are documents and a .gpx file for a suggested route from Goodies to the Museum.
Feel free to go straight to the museum ensuring that you arrive before 2:30 PM for the guided tour.
Address is: The Old Trolleybus Depot, Cobham Road, Ipswich, Suffolk IP3 9JD
Please tick one of the voting buttons above right, just so we have an idea of numbers. Many thanks.
