R500k Standard brakes and suspension upgrade

Arv Mc Slow

Running Standard Billies all round and what looks like "Delphi pads", I have decided to upgrade to "NItrons" Via Simon Rogers, and "Ferodo pads" both front and rear of my R500k (2000).

Booked in at PGM end of next month (July 2015) to get Nitrons fitted, camber, rake, tow adjusted properly and finally flat floored to suit little ole me  *whistle* .

The reason for upgrades.

Well to be brutal, the brakes are rubbish, you can stamp on them and just hope for the best, Simon has suggested we go Ferodo all round.

The ride is suprisingly smooth but it tends to want to throw itself into the hedge, when faced with adverse cambers in the road, and i feel it wallows a bit too, So Nitrons are on order.

I recently went out on a rather eye opening Blat down twisty roads and found i was battling with the car, to keep it from comitting suicide at each bumpy bend, (not how it should be im sure), and far far from its limits.

Preping car for some sprinting, I feel it would benifit emmensly and make my driving alot more enjoyable too.

Will update..

Full day at PGM.

firstly I have to express how delighted I was to watch Andy Jupp at work, his methodical approach fills me with confidence and is rare nowadays.

So my 7 was booked in for a complete geometry set up, including flat floor, corner weight, rake, camber, caster, and equally as important new Nitrons supplied by Simon Rogers of Meteor motorsport.

Each bolt removed was cleaned and copperslipped.

Traditional wheel alignment (without lazers) was very simplistic in its design, but very effective, by a series of measurements from two nylon lines, works superb..!

Chomping at the bit i took the R500K out for a brief blat.

The steering is superb with feedback now, the bumps dont send the car into the bushes, and im not fighting the car, i can finally relax and drive.

Previously on a blat with some Penn 7 members we was out for 4 hours, and on reflection it was not enjoyable tbh, it was a workout to say the least, a skittish car with power trying to kill itself isnt good, isnt fun..

I can actually say i'm looking forward to my first blat since the changes, bring it on..!

I managed to get some Ferodo 2500 front and rear, and they are much better than the original pads.

thought i might get a bias issue but it seems quite balanced.
