Wet day @ Castle Combe - 18th May 2009

After 3 trackdays in the Se7en, Tony and I decided it was time to take some instruction from a pro. We were recommended Simon Mason, who mentors the Caterham drivers in the FauldSport team.

After each having several laps out on our own to get our eye in, Simon attached his intercom setup to our helmets and we were off whilst the track the was dry. Having Simon speak directly via the intercom was like having a second brain, encouraging and reminding in real time.

We built our pace in the morning, the intensity of driving and concerntrating that much more than usual trackdays meant lunch was a welcome break.

The afternoon came with rain, so we also got instruction on how to drive a Se7en in the wet. I had a few spins, the first at Camp corner, OMG where is the barrier! - the second at Quarry when I ran out of lock as my hands hit my legs.

Time to sort my driving position by getting some foam seats in the car and get my legs out of the way of the wheel.
