  1. Andy,

It sounds like it must be alot worse when hot than when I listened to it, when cold-ish.

As Ian says, its under warranty, if you're not happy then get CC to sort it, as I think I mentioned my last car had three diffs before I got a good one

Anyway good to meet last night, hope you got home drier than we did, more Noahs Ak than Caterham *eek*

  2. No, I didn't is the short answer

The reason I was repacking it was that I had noticed some heat tarnish near the front of the can (and I thought it had got a little louder)

On opening it up I found the steel wool holed where the heat tarnish was and the insulation at that end quite blackened.

So I didn't want to put the steel wool back, so I spoke to Kirsty (I think) at TV and she said that I shouldn't need any retainer at all, just use the infill.

I repacked it with just the infill which are the pictures you can see, but before I had chance to run it up, I visited our exhaust factory in France who use a glass cloth as a retainer in our large industrial silencers.

I mananged to acquire a bit and reassembled the exhaust with the thin layer of glass cloth, feeling happier that there was some sort of retainer present.

On testing it, I am not sure it is is as quiet as I expected, so perhaps the glass cloth is preventing the infill doing its thing.

I will run it a bit longer and dismantle again to see how it is all faring

  3. Phil,

I have just repacked my CSR260 exhaust with no problems at all. I have loads of pictures but have yet to download/post them. May try and do it over the weekend.

Used AcoustiFil from Thermal Velocity following another post on here, service very good, seems okay so far, yet to run the car though.

The online calculator showed I needed 2.33m which I got in the can fairly easily. It then apparently expands to fill the can.

  4. I found my rear wings starred with even the butyl rubber roof paint on

So I now have foam bonded to the underside of the wings, 6mm for the rear and 3mm for the front. I used the closed cell camping mat type material but bought online alot cheaper. I think for a sheet of 2mx1m of each thickness was about £20

Solved any issues and quietened the stone noise, so that you don't get that bottom clenching moment when you go over a freshly chipped road (just like the one out of Yarmouth Ferry terminal !!!)

  5. Tim,

The usual way of lifting the wheel slightly to line up the hole is to apply pipe insulation to the carrier

Available in at least two different thicknesses from most DIy places

Did this on my SV when swapping spares from 13" to 15" etc etc

Will try and dig out a photo here

  6. Forgot to add, Fareaster did some experimenting with a different throttle cable quadrant which (I think) reduced sensitivity at low throttle.

    I have some pictures somewhere.......................

  7. Someone call ???????????

It was a mapping issue, finally sorted with an updated map where they (Caterham Mids) effectively bypassed the MAP sensor.

If yours has the MAP sensor still connected to the manifold by the rubber tube it sounds like it hasn't had the mod.

    Was fine after that

  8. Andrew,

    Sorry, late again 😬

Mine is 2009, primaries not lagged, tunnel insulated, all underside in place includng hoop, swoopy dash and dash tubes get as hot as anything especially in the summer. Not noticeable so much in winter so definitely a function of ambient temperature.

I am about 40 mins away for when you need another one to look at.

  9. Brian,

I had a 150 Sigma, and am now chuffed to have a 2.3 Cosworth Duratec CSR under my right foot.

There is no comparison as you would expect and I agree with Paul

I found with my 150, that it felt underpowered and I would struggle to keep up on blats. I had mine RR'ed at Northampton Motorsport after many map changes by CCM.

The Curve was fairly smooth for both torque and power, but what I didn't realise is that the 125 and the 150 Sigma have the same torque figure, and that at 4000 rpm you are making about 75 bhp and at 5000 rpm only 100 bhp

As I used to changeup at anywhere between 3500 and 4000 rpm, it became obvious why it never seemed to be that quick, as I was only using it at about half power.

With the Sigma you really have to keep the revs up to get anything from it

I have the curve I can email to you if you want.

The 2.3 is lazy power, it is there when you want it, but you can drive it potter about at under 4000 rpm and you still have 175-200 bhp to play with. Plenty for me 😬

  10. Spotted entering Lutterworth from the aeroplane roundabout at about 3.30pm Saturday 15th (yesterday)

We were in the Silver Disco going the other way and we beeped and waved *wavey*
