  1. Does anyone know what size the CC 6 speed gear knob grub screw is and also where I can get one? I swapped my silver gear knob for a black one a few weeks and somewhere between the car and the workbench it has disappeared....

    Many thanks.

  2. **NOW SOLD**

My old 23" LG monitor has been replaced under warranty (with only 5 weeks left!) however LG couldn't replace it with a comparable sized and spec'd one. I run a triple screen setup where the monitors need to be the same size and spec, hence it's up for sale. It's brand new in box and I've not even opened it! Before I put it on ebay is there any interest on here?

It's an LG 24MP55HQ monitor with a 24" IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 and seems well reviewed. The going rate at all the usual online retailers seems to be £120 - £125 but happy to sell it for £100 plus a few quid for postage. Now Sold.

  3. **SOLD**

Due to an impending house purchase opportunity which I cannot pass up, my Caterham Seven is very regretfully up for sale. I had intended to keep it indefinitely and as such it has been cherished and upgraded to where it is today with a view to long term ownership. It has only been driven in the wet a handful of times during my 4 years of ownership and I have only done 1 trackday. The car has been fastidiously maintained and loved and I will be deeply saddened to see it go. I am the 3rd owner and the odometer shows just over 39k miles.

The car was upgraded from its original 1.6 Superlight specification by Caterham in 2004 with the Caterham Supersport R conversion which made it identical to the R300 with a 1.8K Series on Roller Barrel Throotle Bodies. During my ownership I upgraded the engine further with Omega Forged Pistons and the Easiclean External Tank Dry Sump System. Overall, it is in very good overall physical condition and absolutely perfect mechanical condition. It has mainly been used for Sunday morning runs out during the Summer and is SORN’d over the winter.

The car benefited from a major refresh last winter which took 6 months and covered pretty much every aspect of the car. The front and rear suspension were refreshed by Bilstein, powerflex bushes fitted and everything repowdercoated. The Dry Sump system was fitted and the 6 Speed gearbox refreshed by Phil at Road and Race. The chassis bars and grot traps were cleaned and repainted were necessary and the uprated front hubs fitted. Practically all the nuts and bolts were changed and hundreds of minor parts fitted with new ones. If you search for Caterham Superlight 157 you will see the PH thread which details all the work done.

The engine is superb, very powerful but excellent at low speed due to the mapping by Northampton Motorsport. With the upgraded bottom end it would make an excellent prospect for a more powerful unit with just the head work to be done.

The car has a full history with annual servicing which includes and oil change (Fuchs Supersynth 5w40and OEM filter) and I always carry out a detailed inspection and torque check all the nuts and bolts. I also clean underneath, remove the wheels and clean everything. In addition, I have every single invoice from the original sales paperwork, right to the present day. The MOT expires 17 September 2015.

If you are interested please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I am looking for £19,750.

Please note the aeroscreen is not included in the sale, the windscreen and full doors are now back on the car.

  5. Yes, I've done that too *yes*

in fact one of the PSCUK committee members lives in my road and drives a lovely near mint red 1.9 Gti. He's got his ear to the ground and is looking for a good example for me and if I'm honest it's his fault I now want one!

  6. Thanks Dr S, I already have that bookmarked and have been checking it daily. Thought I'd post up here too as there's a lot of dross about and I want to cast the net as wide as possible, especially on the slim chance a sevener has a 205 tucked away *thumbup*

  7. I am looking for a nice factory standard example of a 205 GTi. Ideally I'm after a 1.9 but I wouldn't dismiss a nice 1.6 if it came up. My ideal spec is a Phase 2 car in either White or Miami Blue (I definitely don't want a red or black one!) Budget would be around £3k, possibly a little more if required and as such Im not after a concours car, just a tidy rust free one that I can use regularly. Happy to take on an example that needs some work, but it must be a runner.

If anyone has one or knows of one coming up for sale, please get in touch!

  8. My car is polybushed with Powerflex bushes which were bought from DemonTweeks with the club discount. My bushes were shot to bits so needed replacing anyway and I liked the idea of the sharper handling and ease of installation. Although there's not a massive difference on the road the front end is definitely sharper, not sure about the rear though.

One thing to note on the rear is that some of the Powerflex bushes aren't really suitable. For instance Dave at DemonTweeks recommended that I kept the standard bushes in the radius arms due to the de dion tube geometry.

All in all though, I'm really happy I made the change *smile*

  9. I've got the Pace Easiclean tank mounted in a shortened passenger footwell (I rarely if ever take passengers) so that may be an issue for you. It sits on a little shelf that was supplied with the kit and rivets to the chassis bars. The tank itself is really nicely fabricated and fits really well in the gap.
