And you said you would never mention that again after you demolished the board and burnt out the clutch in MY car at Anglesey😡😡😁

    😱😂😂

  2. I think your order is correct and yes my top hat sits on top of the boot cover. This enables the harness to swivel, the crinkle washer simply stops it rattling and the boot cover will sit flush with the chassis rail. I can’t see how it would work if you put the top hat under the boot cover…..

  3. According a Demon Tweeks blog on understanding helmet standards a Snell SA2015 expired 31.12 23 but a dual standard FIA 8859-2015 & Snell SA2015 has no expiry date which suggests that an FIA standard is greater than the SA2015 as advised to me by MUK.

  4. I note from the calendar in the speed section that Prescott and Harewood are shown as double championship headers. Is this now confirmed after the discussions?

  5. Like you Alan I tend to only enter events I enjoy and yes, I might well consider Wiscombe as a non-championship event. Harewood and Prescott seem ideal double headers (if possible).

In my mind, less events equals less choice and I'm not entirely convinced that is a good idea. Looking at the final results for last year of the 52 entrants only 25 managed to compete in 7 or more. Perhaps we need to find out if there are reasons other than financial.

IMHO we already have this year too many sprints (8) compared to hillclimbs (4).

Trackdays seem to be gaining popularity in the club perhaps we could find a way of enticing those into sprinting?

  6. More double events for me please. At least competitors will have a choice of 1 or 2 days at the same venue. Generally speaking I think the invited days have been quite popular in the past so adding them in as qualifying rounds seems a no brainier.

re ratio, sadly it hasn’t helped we have lost 2 circuit this year.

  7. I spoke with MUK this afternoon re helmet standards and expiry dates. The guy was quite helpful but could not give any definitive answers other than  FIA standard trumps Snell. So if you have dual standard FIA 8859-2015 and SA2015 then it can still be used after the Snell expiry date of 31.12.26. So his argument was that the FIA8859-2015 will have at least 4 years or more.

It was suggested that if you wanted to be certain of a later epiry date then the FIA 8860-2018 would be a better bet but, of course, more expensive. I think 8860 are all Carbon?

  8. Disappointing that there's no Cadwell Park, Hethel, Wisombe Park.

Long-standing commitment means Anglesey in April is a no-go for me. 7 qualifying rounds is looking harder to achieve from personal perspective assuming with the reduced number of events unless we're reducing the number of quaifying rounds to 6?

What's the reason for Cadwell, Hethel and Wiscombe disappearing?

For the first time in 16 years I'm struggling to find enthusiasm, at the moment, for next season. 🙁

Extract from 2024 Yearbook, no expiry date given for FIA 8859-2015. According to an FIA document it seems this standard has been around since 2019? So I wonder how many more years we can expect it to be extant.

Well we completed our first track day - it was at Blyton Park last weekend and probably the last chance before the weather really turns.  It left us hooked, even though our 120 Roadsport will never be the fastest car there and often the slowest.  Certainly hope to get on some track days next year and will be more organised but as we have to drive there in the Caterham we will be travelling light and no tyre changes or other luxuries for us.  Anyway, we thought we'd a couple of our oh so slow and very much novice laps ... bring on next year!

Glad you enjoyed yourselves, beware it becomes very addictive! Pretty tidy lines as well. A bit of advice (I hope you don't mind) but the position of your passenger's harness buckle is far too high. This generally happens when the laps belt aren't done up tight enough over the pelvis area so that when the shoulder straps are pulled tight the buckle rises and in the worst case scenario the passenger 'submarines' under the belt.

  11. Not a direct answer to your question but is there any particular reason you don't like the shorter filter? I've used those on my Blacktop Zetec since 2010 and 23k miles, touring, sprinting and hillclimbing with no issues.
