  1. Welcome *wavey*

I own a factory built 2011 Supersport SV. I believe the FIA roll bar is the “Track Day” roll bar with a petty strut. Depends who’s organising the track day as to whether you will need a “track day” roll bar. The last L7C (organised by MSV) track evening at Brands Hatch did not require a track day roll bar.

When I bought my Supersport in 2011 I did get the half doors in “Carbon effect” vinyl. You need to refer to CC as they keep changing the Spec/Price Sheet. You can see the Spec /Price Sheet on the CC site (but you need to register).

CC currently do “Weather equipment + carbon interchangeable aeroscreen” £1,910.

As already commented above the full hood is a waste of money, I’ve never used it. You get wetter putting it on than the half hood and when you get back in the car it’s all a bit “Boil in The Bag”. The CC full hood I was supplied with doesn’t even have a zip out rear window!

If I was in the market for a new Caterham I would again go for the Supersport over the Supersport R. The Supersport R costs £3500 more for very little performance gain.

The only difference in Spec (that I can see) is that the Supersport R has the 180bhp Duratec. The R is 1 tenth of a second quicker to 60mph, would I notice that...no. The top speed of the R is 130mph over the Supersport’s 120mph... when would I use the extra 10mph? The R’s Duratec is 15kg heavier than the Supersport’s Sigma and the Sigma is much more economical.

What I might consider is buying the Supersport minus the 140 Sigma and having the F175 Sigma from Premier Power fitted. This gives you Supersport R performance but further reduces the Supersport’s weight making it now over 20kg lighter than the Supersport R... and I presume more responsive and more economical. After all, Colin Chapman's oft-stated philosophy was "Simplify, then add lightness".

    Have fun 😬

Garry - Hi, *wavey* to SWMBO. I passed through Yalding (really busy) again today returning from CBS...

Chris - That was Lesson One *redface*... I've moved on. See ya tomorrow night.

Martin - Is there a phantom fog light smasher about? I repaired mine with super glue
